Baldur’s Gate 3 had some issue and I was forced to restart again, but thanks to that I have been exploring the same area enough that I have found new encounters and areas to fight enemies in.
I have also decided that I don’t care about cheating, so I’m using mods to speed things along and bump the level cap to 20.
I feel like a lot of Xbox games don’t really have competing equivalents on Switch 2, which I think leaves the door right open for them to scoop up that potential market.
Xbox owns western RPGs and besides the Witcher 3 port and Skyrim, there isn’t much. Now they are getting Fallout 4 Anniversary and MS would do well to bring Fallout 76, Avowed, Outer Worlds 2, Wasteland 3 as well even though it’s a bit different.
Same with EA dropping the ball with Battlefield, COD could dominate on Switch, same with Halo Infinite multiplayer or the Halo Campaign Evolved remaster.
Cyberpunk has done well on Switch 2, which I think shows there is some appetite for AAAs.
Yes, once you start Mod Manager is right under the Multiplayer setting.
Edit: I tried to balance my cheating around adding more enemies for every encounter, so less exp to level up, level 20 cap and 2x exp for all. Also getting more feats to pick from.
The thing though is Nintendo understands that these games could dominate their platform making their own games less relevant. They seem to actively work towards these games dominating on their platform. Reports say over 81 million have played Fortnite on switch a number greater than any of their sales. Roblox for example is not on switch. I think if these big games all get on Switch that 85% domination on that Nintendo gets on their store will quickly go down to below 50.
Nope. PlayStation fanboys/extremists have said that Xbox has died like 5 times this year alone and yet, they never ever shut the fuck up about the platform that they have zero interest in, don’t own and don’t play games on.
Not to be an asshole or anything but I believe that if Xbox truly died that 75% of those PlayStation fanboys/extremists would commit suicide because what else would they have in their life to talk about? They sure as hell don’t buy any games on PlayStation and they sure as fuck don’t play any games on their PlayStation.
You would think that they would be playing Yotei right about now or a few third party multi-platform games but nope, they play Twitter and forums. I will never ever understand wasting time on stuff that is of zero interest.
Suicide is really extreme. I don’t think it’s that deep. They’d probably just move onto to doing the same crap with something else. These types aren’t unique, and, unfortunately, they are becoming increasingly common: people that don’t actually enjoy anything (or feel terrible for some reason or another), so the only way they can feel better about themselves is by attacking others.
What makes the problem more profound in gaming is that the consoles (all three) made this their entire identity for so long. Proverbially (or maybe “marketingly”) speaking the console war was real, and it left a lot of angry crippled veterans who 100% don’t get any VA benefits for how badly they bought into it. I mean what’s really interesting is that these people don’t actually ever talk about what they like about their preferred gaming console. And I don’t think they do like anything because what’s there to like? The traditional console market and console wars fought on the grounds of exclusive games and content within games and that was it: people brag about the privelege of being able to buy XYZ game that Xbox gamers can’t and that’s basically it. I think for a lot of them hating on Xbox is how they justify all the money they invested into Playstation or Nintendo despite knowing and experiencing said platform squeezing them dry without care.
There’s also the reality of social media just giving the negative echo chamber a megaphone. And some of these people don’t even care about gaming, but are just looking for the clout. And the algorithm benefits being a toxic grifter . But yeah, I’m quite sure most of these types would just project their feelings (because that’s all that’s happening now) onto something else. They’ll probably join the anti-woke crowd or attacking PC or mobile gamers or whomever. It probably doesn’t even really matter to them that it’s Xbox; what matters is that they can feel better about themselves by projecting their own insecurities onto a group it either views as other and therefore lesser or thinks is just small enough that they won’t face negative repercussions and might even garner support for speaking the “truth” (this is why minority groups are such an easy target).
I do have to hope this isn’t remotely even a 1/12th of all PS gamers, because like you say this particular crowd can’t even play games with how much time they spend online. They’re probably not even gamers at all. Most PS gamers are playing games and if anything really really happy with Xbox based on the sales of some of the ports.
Maybe it’s just me, but I kinda want to give kudos to just the Xbox fanbase in general. MS made some drastic changes and in a rather short time span too.
Flagship titles that have always been the face of Xbox are now on other console platforms, and maybe because I don’t use stuff like Twitter and just social media anymore but just based on what I’ve been seeing I think the people are all taking it quite well, with just pretty normal, level headed reactions. It’s not that they like it, but it basically is what it is.
Had the roles been reversed and it was PS? We would have seen insane and pathetic meltdowns.
I think it’s just the signs of the times. Xbox is doing what they need to. In this day and age exclusives don’t mean much. I also think they deliver to their console fans with Play Any Where and Game Pass also with solid deals and perks.
Yeah, I only know myself, but I’m not in the Xbox ecosystem for any particular game. I’ve had an Xbox since the 360 (it was my first bedroom console), but back then I had all consoles and played the games I wanted wherever. I wasn’t a “fan” of any platform. I’m an Xbox fan today because how being on the Xbox platform and ecosystem benefits me as a consumer (Xbox Play Anywhere, Game Pass, cloud gaming, cloud saves, etc). I’m not a fan of anything just because I’m giving the privelege on spending more money on exclusive software that isn’t available elsewhere. In fact I’ve always hated that idea. Feels like lording over me or trying to strong arm me into the ecosystem.
Checking that immediately because that’d be amazing. I mean I own it on Steam and Xbox and there’s cloud saves, so not like a big deal for me. But amazing for Xbox Play Anywhere on the whole.
