Never understood this mindset. Renting video games existed long before gamepass. Hell that’s mostly what i did as a kid rented a game from blockbuster for the weekend and try to finish it.

If anything has negatively effected the gaming industry i would argue free to play games that are live service games. Those are taking time away from other games at a high rate. The economy not doing great for most also hamper how many people can buy games.

And I’ve always felt the cathedral moment had happened. Building to big to try to justify the cost just isn’t the answer. Instead we need more of the smaller scale and smaller price games back. Expedition 33 Hell Divers 2 Grounded ect. Those games should be the better target. Not using large teams to make monster games. Smaller teams with more focused targets should be the goal.

You know he was rightfully called out by a lot of people within social media on this matter.

Nice to see many don’t fall for this kinda thing compared to the really gullible, which is very few nowadays unless its a vocal minority.

That and also many game studios and developers calling him out is also something else as well.

I like the idea that it’s the devil and it’s so great it’s going to put everyone out of business but also it sucks so much that they are going to give up on it.

Schrödingers Game Pass.

I can’t believe it’s so many years later and it’s still not at a version 1.0 release. Absolutely loved the first game, but haven’t played any of the second while it’s in early access.

Happy for Level-5. They definitely needed this succes after the financial troubles they’ve had.

I respect Colantonio as an artist/director so much but this recent hot take about GP (because this is exactly what this is, a stupid hot take) was so disappointing coming from someone like him.

As you already said how the hell is the “dead” platform the strongest in terms of influencing the market? if Game Pass (he is leaving PS+ out of the discussion for some reason, so why this sub which is on the market leader’s system btw isn’t affecting sales exactly?) is the problem then why the software attach ratio is low AF and people don’t buy games as being said many many times by Piscatella in general? how and why a sub on Xbox is having such a strong influence on PS customers? are we playing dumb here?

So why is he overlooking:

  • That f2p black hole games are the biggest problem in the industry right now stealing the oxygen from everything else.
  • Sony this generation (and Nintendo recently) making gaming more expensive so people are even more hesitant on buying stuff while also life in general is getting more and more expensive.
  • It has been proven again and again that a game can be on GP and be a success in terms of sales with Expedition 33 being the latest big example and in fact help the sales on other platforms through positive word of mouth.

And talking about game sales he seemed to have taken the Game Pass moneybag just fine and even launched his game on the service so why does he sound like a delusional PS fanboy? as I said above GP is helping game sales through positive word of mouth and guess what..Weird West didn’t have a good word of mouth because it launched in a really shitty state…so what I am guessing is that the people that tried the game at launch on GP were not exactly running to hype the game up or recommended the game to others on social media or irl. Pair the bad launch with the game being an immersive sim and you don’t have the most successful combination in the world…I dunno maybe the game’s bad launch state played a role on the game not selling on the other platforms too? because I don’t see how the GP launch can impact negatively (besides the negative word of mouth) sales on Playstation or Steam.

He should be more critical on the bad decisions he made and have more realistic sales expectations for his game because he sounds like a delusional PS fanboy and that’s not what I expected from one of my favorite directors.

You know the feeling that you feel very liberated when you managed to get away from something that clearly was doing a number on you in some way?

Ever since i canceled my twitter account i felt very happy to the point that i started to cook again in a more healthy manner than before(I plan to even see if i can go beyond just cooking or writing if this keeps up).

Its actually great to feel this way to be completly frank.

Social media is, generally, a negative, in my experience - when the use case is general.

Friends/family contact? Cool. Helping your business/portfolio? Great, up to a point.

Anything else? Poison, even if not obviously toxic.

I’m probabaly going to regret asking…but what’s he come out with now? No doubt something a certain other site will be happy to hear him say..

Not surprising seeing Colin Moriarty also did try to get his game into Game Pass at one time.

Guy who gets paid to say Xbox is bad says Xbox is bad. Internet freaks out from how excited this makes them, circlejerks till they pass out.

He has updated his comments now saying Game Pass is profitable which has led to some deleting their tweets.

Ok, I need to correct/clarify something. First, Xbox Game Pass is profitable, even when you factor in the lost sales for its first-party teams, sources who would know have told me.

Over 18 months ago, I checked with Xbox about what’s included in the Game Pass P&L. Basically, I…

It does seem like as of recent Xbox has been getting more Korean games before PlayStation. It’s looking like there is a strong push by Xbox in Asia as of late. Recently we had Mecha Break release on Xbox and this 2 announced for Xbox and PC there was also news of top Korean developers pitching to Blizzard for the Starcraft IP. Blizzard Reportedly Receiving New StarCraft Game Pitches From Well-Known Korean Developers All this does make me wonder maybe Xbox might end up moving or contracting some of its IP to Asian developers as development tends to be cheaper there not to mention the developers in the US were the ones most impacted in the layoffs. I guess maybe we might getter a better glimpse at TGS.

He should just stick to data collecting as in sales and anything with numbers. Anything else always leave the vibe of attack. I have no idea why, but there you go.

Why do people care about a corporation’s revenue and profits? Xbox is releasing the most games ever in the history of the company for Xbox gamers to buy, AND putting them day one on Game Pass for those that enjoy subs.
