It’s crazy how High on Life 2 is so soon now, zero marketing and I guess that’s why I’m surprised because I honestly forgot about it. Hopefully not a bad sign, I need this game to be great because the first one sure was. But this one IS without Roiland’s influence.
Didn’t first one had none either?
Still my game of the year from last year. ![]()
I honestly have no idea.
It’ll be fine.
As long as you liked it, that’s all that matters ![]()
I love my Switch 2. It’s all I wanted: Mario Kart World, 4K60FPS Zelda, Cyberpunk on the go!!
But I get that it’s disappointing for a lot of people. First 6-8 months are just fine/OK, even for Nintendo.
I’m glad you do. It’s the first Nintendo console I’ve bought at launch and regretted it (I enjoyed the Wii U at launch more than the S2). For me, it does absolutely nothing well enough to justify the cost, especially when I’ve been enjoying the Ally X, RPG2, and other systems that all have unique draws.
The software offerings from Nintendo has been verifiably weak and the hardware is the smallest jump in generational power since the original Wii.
You never said anything to suggest otherwise, but there is a litany of problems with the Switch 2 and Nintendo as a whole. I wish people would have honest conversations about this stuff but the media and zeitgeist have trained people to quell any dissent… even when it’s right.
Long time without posting, coming back to gaming after a big hiatus. Just to post my experience with Switch 2. My niece got one, and I got curious to test it (tested it for couple of hours, maybe 2 or 3). I think it came with two games, Mario Kart and some Donkey Kong. It definitely didn’t get me, nothing special with that system, it also didn’t feel that confortable to me. And about both games I tested, I thought both boring and generic. My first impression was meh.

Sure have a lot of pushes alas marketing in compare to WoW. They got something for sure.
The next Xbox is still a fair bit away, dropping in late 2027 at the earliest, according to my most recent information. I received details about the next-gen Xbox around the same time I exclusively reported on Project Kennan, now known as the Xbox Ally.
At the earliest 2027… we’ll see what happens I guess.
Windows’ strengths are pretty damn strong though. There is so much concern about “If Xbox doesn’t nail this out the gate then EVERYTHING DIES.” but in reality I don’t even think the complaints about Xbox will change. Something to remember is that windows PC gamers dwarf every other console. People complain but long before FSE and even proper controller support for stuff like virtual keyboards they happily swarmed to PC due to the sheer level of game and software support windows has. As much as everyone praises SteamOS and says it’ll kill windows, Valve’s own hardware surveys humbles reality. Windows is so dominant that we have to celebrate when Linux increases its share by less than a percent.
Ultimately, I don’t think Xbox’s struggle will be in software, but in properly gaining mindshare and pushing the Xbox experience as default (not just on the next gen PC-hybrid hardware but on cloud and traditional PCs and whatever else). I think the OEM plans are going to have to go hard and they’ll really have to flood the market with Xbox gaming PCs that run Xbox FSE on bootup. They’ll also need to figure out what to do to really, REALLY push Xbox Cloud Gaming (start by fully embracing XCloud branding (and then change Xbox on PC to XPC)) because it is very clear that they want it as an option for people to solely access the Xbox ecosystem through (like for people to buy games on the Xbox story and only play them through the cloud on the lowest tier GP sub or ads). Essentially Xbox will need to do what Windows has done and become the “default” ecosystem experience for gaming or at least get far closer to it than Xbox is currently.
That sucks to hear, I guess not even being on Steams yearly best sellers chart made a difference.
That… was surprisingly not as gross as I was expecting and was weirdly… wholesome (?) at the end. That rolly-polly-ollie had the tenacity of a little Doom Guy.
Here in my city they have given the code red. Which basically means warnings for the roads being extremely slippery because of the cold. Some people are seriously ice skating through the streets here. ![]()
