DayOne Community Hangout |OT14| New News? NEW THREAD

Since I’ve no idea how to multi quote here, I’ll just say that it sounds like good news. Hopefully they succeed in it. Perhaps they’ll talk more about it next week? Wonder if we’re going to get anything concrete on other digital stores as well, or if that’s going to be kept for a later point.

Yeah, like everyone’s been saying that’s not a new issue at all. Xbox is currently bigger in Japan than it’s ever been and has more Japanese support than ever, but that doesn’t put it nearly at PS, Nintendo, or PC levels. The ideal is that if devs make a windows PC version then it’s the same dev environment for Xbox, so it’s no effort or cost to just do both. Or making it so that all the Playfab tools are free if they do an Xbox version, so it’s more beneficial for devs to do an Xbox version than to ignore the platform. They’re also doing stuff like making the guide (or whatever it’s called) for developers free.

Xbox will always struggle to be as big of a console as PS or Nintendo, so 1) merging windows and Xbox as much as possible should just delete that issue because windows as a gaming platform has more users than any console and 2) making it cheap, accessible, and beneficial for devs to make an Xbox version should also help immensely.

Hardware stock on shelves is something else entirely. Xbox will have to be VERY aggressive to actually compete in stores in Japan. You currently can’t even find Xbox cards (like Game Pass or Ms store credit cards you can redeem) in most stores in Japan. Typically they’d be in convenience stores. Being an Xbox gamer in Japan is NOT convenient. Games like Minecraft and even Forza now are hugely popular, but Xbox as a platform remains incredibly obscure and borderline unknown. It’s a difficult problem to fix as Japanese culture in general prefers Japanese products. Japan still has a very conservative view on foreigners. Nintendo and Sony are both Japanese companies and have been around in gaming a lot longer than Xbox. There’s probably so much behind the scenes IN JAPAN Xbox has to do that’s separate from their work to get Japanese dev support. That’s on top of general stock issues and Xbox being smaller than PS and Nintendo globally regardless. I personally think this is where Xbox PC OEMs will end up shinning. Asian PC manufacturers like ASUS might have a much easier time getting into Asian markets. Also with Xbox mode rolling out on all windows PCs that might also hugely boost Xbox’s PC gaming users and general brand awareness.

Baker?

Artisan baker. It was mentioned in one of his interviews, one with IGN’s Unlocked.

Are you talking about like…brownies?

Bread made from thousands year old yeast!

It is good that Xbox is pushing more on the dev kit for next gen, especially with upcoming event. I doubt anything new, but the fact is, they keep pushing rather than “If you miss that day, you’re screwed.” They really want everyone to be involved this time around.

Pokemon Pop-Tarts are already being scalped after returning for the first time in 25 years

Well, after the whole Palworld hate and cards scalping, I’m becoming numb on the absurdity of the fan base.

Whats the shelf life on those anyway? I’ve never heard of scalping for a perishable food item that’s meant to be consumed once.

Understatement of the generation.

There’s like 3 YouTubers responsible for that

It’s almost never the “fans” doing this kind of thing.

Yup, it’s always grifters. Recently Mother’s Basement did a video that went into it, because Logan Paul was the person who started the whole BS with Pokemon cards. Is trying to do so again with manga.

I’m imagining something like a multiplayer parkour obstacle course. It doesn’t sound like the world’s worst idea necessarily, I can see why they’d want to try it. But you would think that this would be something that they could prototype quickly and then abandon if they can’t find the fun. Not something that would sit in development hell for years and years.
