Extra! Extra! hear all about it! DayOne Non Gaming News Aggregation Thread!

Both companies can eat dirt, but it’s somewhat great seeing people respond appropriately to a terrible decision. Idk what OPENAI expected. Sam Altman had kinda felt like he’s been desperate lately and that’s led to a lot of decisions that I guess are ultimately good because they seem to be running the “AI” trend into the ground. He probably should’ve let Open AI fire him and gone to work at Microsoft way back during that fiasco.

Oh? Haven’t heard about this yet, I just remember google stalling for time.

Yeah I haven’t been following the case in a LONG while. I remember this starting when I was still in high school (Epic trying to leverage fortnite’s popularity for a better deal in the mobile stores). Just looked it up when I saw two different takes on here and it seems like it’s finally over (for Google at least). And not like I like Epic, but the outcome seems like it’d benefit everyone.

I’m still likely to buy a Murena Fairphone 6 down the line, as my current phone is 4 years old and there’s no telling how much longer it will last.

But glad to hear that Google has stopped trying to stall for time. Still think they will try to over turn it down the line though.

Looks like the extra work that judges are being forced to do is putting them in a bad mood against ICE. But I really do wish they go through with Criminal Contempt, or sanctions like a judge did recently where the ICE lawyer lied through their teeth about why they stole someones papers and couldn’t return it. Only for the judge to make it the lawyers problem by sanctioning him 500 dollars a day, and those papers were returned the next day.

No news in particular but DC just ended their latest event and had it had a very not subtle message of Superman letting go of power, and I just really want DC to stay safe and independent of the current administration. With all the mess of Paramount maybe buying them and a former Superman actor joining ICE and using his status as a former Superman actor to advertise ICE, I just hope DC comics don’t get caught in the crossfire.

USAID was one of the government programs I looked up to the most. I was also thought that it’s great for foreign policy because there’s a lot of growth in those developing regions. It really benefits the USA in the long term to create relations now. The US pulling out just means that nations like China will squeeze in. You’d think the current administration would be against that. These are also decisions that will be really hard to revert and move forward from (though that’s the whole administration; gosh we’re still recovering from Reagan, give me a break :sob:).

So… this one sucks for me. I had no idea Embracer had sunk its teeth into Dark Horse comics.

Something I saw regarding GDC was developers in other countries (even from countries that are traditionally US allies like France) being afraid to travel to the USA due to safety concerns with the current administration and immigration. It’s umm, yeah that’s just awful as a US citizen. It’s embarrassing and disheartening. It’s also scary. The Trump administration is doing so much to destabilize the USA on a global political scale. Our allies don’t feel safe being our allies and our enemies are becoming an increasingly large list. I worry what could happen in retaliation for all that the Trump administration has done. I’m downright scared what could happen in retaliation. Something that’s been going around are jokes of people having forgotten what 9/11 is (mainly younger people) as it’s celebrated (not celebrated but you know, recognized) less. Honestly I like that. We should be moving on from it. 9/11 especially is what led created the state of fear that got us the department of homeland security. I really really hoped we can move past all that hate and anger and fear. But here we are and now I’m worried kids growing up (and myself) will experience a new tragedy all born from an administration that cares only for itself and trying to line its pockets at the expense of human lives.

Good to hear it.

As expected it really, Anthropic sues the DoD and the reason is about not wanting Claude to pull the trigger and likely cover themselves.

Strait of Hormuz coverage by Hasan Piker.

BBC talking about possible Iranian responses/capabilities, in the previous video Hasan gets to another video that talks about Iran using water drones to attack ships similar to how Ukraine did with Russia.

Putting this one here because AMD: WTF? goes into so much.

Europe is responding very well currently, I really hope this doesn’t change.

Unfortunately, Trump removing the sanctions on Russia has Putin making like 400 million a day by selling oil and he’s up to 6.4 billion already.
