Fable delayed to February 2027

I agree, we don’t know

Let’s see how well the game sells in Feb 2027 & if Amy is happy

Graphics sell games more than most people want to admit, so on that front I’m sure Amy will be happy. Especially since it’s going to be on PC/PlayStation too, and a lot of those folks can’t help but buy into the “Ooh, shiney good” mentality. And there’s always that “snowball’s chance in hell” that the media at large will praise an Xbox game. Actually with how much everyone has been oozing over Horizon, I wouldn’t be surprised if the narrative changed to “Playground is the only good Xbox dev” or some other fucking asinine “core gamer” bullshit. Plus, I seem to hear from so many Tom, Dick, and Sallys that they are over GTA or never liked it. So smooth sailing am I right?

What you say is why I want Microsoft to stay as is. Release every game everywhere day one to maximize the sales from other platforms that obviously don’t have Game Pass and from users who’ll never buy an Xbox to buy and play them while at the same time, keeping Game Pass as the main core attraction for Xbox. Trying to get game sales on Xbox post-Game Pass isn’t going to work regardless of what anyone says because the history proves that barely anyone bought them pre-Game Pass and even during their peak of the Xbox 360 generation.

As for the third party games, it’s more about getting people into Game Pass to try out games that they would never try because they would never buy them in the first place.

Graphics always help sell a game, no matter what people say.

I agree with a lot of what you said, only Fable is coming after not your usual game, but GTA 6. Which is going to be the most hyped game of all time, no doubt & where every open world game is going to be compared to & where the game will set a new technical benchmark.

That’s my issue & why I would have liked to have seen Fable go early, rather than after GTA 6. Not because of not having any good games coming out in 2026 or that Xbox 1st Party studio has nothing to offer in 2026

Or it’ll crash and burn :smiling_face_with_horns:

I think you’re overestimating GTA a tad. It’s highly anticipated because it’s an every man’s game and one of most popular with casuals. It’s not going to redefine game development for the entire industry. Even if it’s the highest quality game ever that breaks the mold a million times over. It might redefine game pricing if it’s priced high and gamers still buy it. But I really, really don’t think people will be pulling out the side by side comparisons to complain about Fable of all games doesn’t look like GTA VI and let you do everything in it that GTA VI does. It will not set a new benchmark for game development. GTA isn’t that type of game. No game is that type of game. Shifts in minimum standards of quality take place over long periods of time, and it’s already gotten so high that people are starting to push back and complain about open world games being too big or too crowded with things to do or graphics looking too realistic.

I’m already over the news that this got delayed. What are two or so more months? It’s obviously wasn’t going to release before GTA anyway. But I really do hope they stick to February.

Definitely looking forward to seeing it Sunday.

I mean after SoP, Fable did itself a favor.

In what way do you mean?

September/October are stacked

Comically stacked if you ask me.

Oooh ,yes true that.

So far February has Tomb Raider too, hopefully it won’t get too crowded.

Everyone’s trying to avoid GTA and making an even worse problem in the previous month .

If you don’t think this game isn’t going to set a new technical benchmark or dominate the sales charts & gaming discourse for months & months & months, fair enough

This isn’t about a new style of game, changing how games are developed (other than its billion-dollar budget) but a sequel to one of the most hyped & best-selling games in living memory (bring up Minecraft if you must) that even sells better than most modern AAA games made this or last gen & a sequel some 13 years in the making

I don’t even like the series much myself, but even I can see this is going to be massive & dominate gaming for months. I would have liked to go early myself for Fable, but it’s a hard call with September looking fully loaded & well, even February 2027 is starting to look like it might get loaded, what with Tomb Raider & Fable already confirmed & we’re only in June 2026.

Yeah. GTA VI will be popular. Games will release before and after it. Fable will have to release when it does and things will go as they do. I really don’t think GTA VI being popular means it will set some new standard like the second coming of Christ. Fable is still an entirely different genre of game and will attract its own audience. GTA being successful and popular doesn’t mean that everything else will crater. Heck, maybe Fable in February will do better because GTA pushed gamers to upgrade to next Gen. We don’t know. It’ll be what it is.

I get what you say. I was never big into Star Wars, but I knew Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was going to dominate the cinema’s

I would have liked to have gone before GTA 6, that’s all but it’s hardly end of the world stuff

Not sure the Phantom Menace is a good comparison here…

What I meant was it’s an IP I had no interest in, but I knew in the run-up to the film’s release & after it. It would dominate ticket sales & discourse

I feel the same for GTA 6, but just replace ticket sales with game sales

Yes, but we agree on it being popular. What we disagree on you saying it’ll be forever compared to and rewrite the very definition for what it means to be a AAA game, which the Phantom Menace did not do. It was popular when it was in theaters and that was it. It was also a critical bomb, poorly recieved by fans, and made fun of along with the rest of the prequel trilogy. If that’s the comparison we’re going with then it’s for the best that Fable launch in February. The hype for GTA will have died down.
