Sure, but this is also a series staple since the first game, so I wouldn’t level it solely against 5.
It’s clear that Playground needs to balance progression and rewards, though, but I wouldn’t say they need to go completely in the complete opposite direction of what they’ve done up to this point.
They’ve shown they can fine-tune things to a good degree, such as the “icon-slop” from FH3, which was vastly improved in the sequels by better icon design and filters, so here’s to seeing what they can do in FH6.
If I recall correctly you buy nearly every car you have in 1. To do that you need to earn credits winning races. There are only a few special races where you get the car you raced against. In early game, you are buying cars for 10k credits and they are more basic. As you earn better races you are able to afford better cars. Your garage is full of cars that are all important to you b/c you bought them as you climbed the ranks. Its a rags to riches progression. You find a race that has a rear wheel drive requirement and you already know what car you are using b/c it is one of your babies in your garage. In newer horizons, the struggle is to find a filter that will show you what you need with a garage so full of cars.
In later installments, you don’t even know what cars are in your garage. You will have cars you never even race. You sell these cars back and have endless money to buy whatever you want. Not as rewarding to me.
I understand what everyone is saying about the dialogue and characters in these games. However, I do really like it. Sometimes you just have a shitty day and come home at night and start driving around in a world where everyone is just really nice in an over the top way and loves cars, just makes me feel better.
Yeah, that’s how FH1 works, and it is the better way in my opinion. However, I think the more casual fans (and they are a lot) won’t appreciate it, so Playground will hopefully find some middle ground to keep all parties happy.
Nothing wrong with liking it! I think it’s a bit cringy and it really stood out in FH5, where the sentences where the Mexican people are speaking perfect English, suddenly drop a Spanish word to remind you they’re Mexican. It just sounded forced and fake.
I like the more toned-down commentary in The Crew Motorfest.
Hopefully enough fans have shared their criticism about it to PG so that they are aware of it. But I have a feeling it’s a minority and most players love how to get the most amazing cars so easily. Today’s generation doesn’t want to work, you know.
Not really. Your first car in FH1 is a low end hatchback iirc but after that you have enough credits to buy real sports cars.
Also the roads in FH1 are often wobbling vertically and have strange physics.
I prefer the model in FH4 and FH5 where you have to earn lots of cars by events in the festival playlist. Some of these events are even challenging. Makes filling the garage rewarding.
You can select and filter your favorite cars in FH4 and FH5 and get a better experience than in FH1.
While they did have the longest dev time for this game yet, don’t forget a big portion of leadership left Playground post FH5 and that would have had an effect on development. This game also should be on the new version of Forzatech that was introduced with Forza Motorsport. I wouldnt expect ground-breaking changes but it would certainly be great if there was.
Good points. Pros and cons to new leadership. One pro is potential new ideas. 1 - 5 came out in such quick succession, it was prob too hard to really change anything significantly.
