For every chip design, at a certain point with higher frequency the power draw grows beyond linear fashion. Same for voltage settings too. The SOC in the PS5 is “beyond the knee” in terms of frequency and voltages, and thus the power usage is extremely higher than you’d expect it to be.
The efficiency of the power supply doesn’t help either.

PS5 performs better - “All praise Cerny, his genius has created a superior technology for superior gamers! Buy the PS5 version with confidence!”
Xbox performs better - “We’re not sure what’s happening, this is contrary to the holy word of Cerny. There may be some kind of dark magic at work. You should probably buy the PS5 version just to be safe from any possible curse.”

Well this is the first time that I heard someone say that 2025 was a slow year with not that many releases…I guess Sony and Nintendo didn’t have their best year and that is why they found 2025 lacking.
Also what the hell is up with all those Switch 2 games in the honorable mention section…they even mentioned basic AF upgrade patches for the Switch 2…like really? I don’t recall them mentioning Xbox’s much more impressive efforts on the Series consoles regarding BC FPS or resolution boosts in their previous similar videos. And btw Outlaws on Switch 2 may be a good port but has no place in a “best graphics of 2025” video even as a honorable mention, especially when a stunning looking game like freakin’ Keeper released this “slow” year.
As I said in a previous post above commenting on their SH2R Series video they don’t even try to hide their bias and preferences anymore which is disappointing at best and shameful at worst. Since the start of this generation they cater to the PS fanbase sprinkled now with some Switch 2 “love” since they want those Nintendo fanbase clicks too.
I don’t think there’s a reason to even bother with their content anymore IMO, their Xbox coverage is minimal at this point and in terms of content questionable at best.

As someone who played the 1996 original for like 30 minutes and thought it was trash, im very much looking forward to the Remake. We need more remakes of older games as opposed to getting several remasters of games that are barely a half decade old.
Do you even need any more reasons why no one should consume their content at all?

Watched some stuff from Metroid. First things first I dont like the artstyle in this one very much. And then i dont see the great graphics tech in this. Halo 4 has more going on and that was 84 years ago.
KCD2 should be on such a list, Silksong and Keeper too.
I didnt watch most of their stuff in recent years only some retro stuff and even that got stale. If someone forced me to decide between the Keighleys or a DF podcast at gunpoint i would probably die.

every once in a while they will talk about next gen which I find interesting and fun to speculate on. Especially as someone who doesn’t understand the tech very well.
But I totally agree with you otherwise. Trashing developers who are working with various constraints isn’t good tv to me. The warriors love that stuff though.
I actually just watched the hbomberguy vid on plagiarism yesterday b/c someone on the discord channel recommended it. Although it was predominately about plagiarism, he weaves in and out of how a lot of youtube channels operate and how negative content is down to a science now. DF is a masterclass at this. Trashing things has a huge audience out there. Which I will never get. Life is just too short.

The video is a mess that makes no sense at all…the premise is simple yet they are throwing in there a good port on a lesser machine (that is funnily enough the worst console version of this game), some not that impressive or at the very least interesting tech wise games like Kirby, Mario Kart and Fast Fusion (bad IQ but bigger scope…well bigger scope is also present at 99.9% of every sequel out there), basic upgrade BC patches and while they are at it they add some “well this game has Xbox 360 level tech but it has good art direction” in there as well. There is no logic in their decision to include the games above over the 3 games that you mentioned other than catering to the Switch 2 audience.

HDR analysis videos are more informative than a DF video to me. I don’t need someone to tell me how good a game looks.
