The middle of the summer is a weird release date. Early september would have been much better.
Gears/Fable need days before GTA VI
Yeah, I don’t think they have much of a choice. I’m not complaining, it’s just suboptimal in my view. I hope it’s not forgotten, as it’s a major release for Xbox in a packed year.
To be fair, it’s a glow up of a game everyone has played 100 times. Its probably the least important game on their docket for the year.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to it. But it is what it is.
I think you’re right. It’s not something they’ll be expecting huge numbers from. I’m as big a Halo fan as many here, but I’d probably not play this day one if it weren’t for Game Pass.
Halo CE is something special and dear to my heart, so that’s why I’m especially interested in playing it for the 100th time in a more palatable way.
True, I always wanted this to be a basically-new-game type of remake and not just a audiovisual/engine uplift with minor changes here and there but most of the game’s underlying mechanics and design is 1:1 to the original.
Finally, summer won’t be dull.
Honestly I hope this is true. That way nothing is forced to be delayed because of GTA.
I’m playing Halo for the new levels but that’s about it because I’ve played it so many times and it looks like a pretty clear month to release it too.
Seems like Fable is September and COD and Gears are October now or the first of November for COD.
Makes sense. It’s just a remake and other releases are probably higher priority for Q4.
July release date is definitely earlier than I was expecting but im not complaining. I can see Gears/Fable/COD being September/October/November.
I am curious about the Early Access aspect. Like, Early Access to what? If there’s no multi-player, I really don’t understand what this period would be for. I do wonder if there will be an upgrade option for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers as I do that for games in which I know im off from work and can start playing right away instead of waiting an extra week.
Yeah, Im not trying to be dismissive of it. Halo is literally the reason most of us got an Xbox to begin with. I know it was mine. I got a gamecube first and ended up going out a week later to find an Xbox because I saw Halo reviews.
I think it will be good. It just among the rest of the lineup its a nice lil nugget, but not a main course.

If true, it seems like Xbox likes to release remakes on Summer.
As long as it’s not being rushed to meet a release date before GTA 6 then it’s ok.
That might work in its favor. Xbox historically hasn’t done a great job keeping up with consistent releases throughout the year. At its worst fall has been way too crowded. Summer might give the game a little breathing room before the massive hitters of the year.
