Xbox taking the PlayStation route of releasing old legacy games on other platforms to make it an incentive to buy the new rebooted game that is no doubt in the works… smart, lol

Somebody can read the future…

I wish Xbox fans would become less tribal. It shouldn’t be about what’s exclusive… You are using a product and we all want that product to be the best value for money and the best product there is.

If we started looking at things that way instead of looking at it as if we’re warring tribes this hobby would be so much better.

A Quake remaster being on PlayStation doesn’t make the Xbox a worse product. So let’s calm down about it a little bit. Don’t be excited by exclusivity, be excited by the content.

Cool, achievements for Quake :+1:

Especially considering we are talking about a remaster of a 25 year old game.

It doesn’t open anything as it was already covered by the initial announcement of Legacy Titles (which I noted back then and will note again he said legacy titles, not legacy IPs).

And regarding opening speculation about future titles as Starfield showed the speculation doesn’t hurt Xbox in one bit and when the game is finally announced as exclusive the false hopes people leaned to makes for a much more potent viral marketing, so they would be smart to capitalize on that again with Quake if they are planning for a reboot.

Exactly. We’re not talking about Halo or Starfield here.

Looks like it will indeed have a console release. All consoles.

Most likely theory now is it’s a new, modern source port. Any enhancements or extra content is gravy.

Yep, I do not care either. Any company can do what they like release what they like, at the same time, after a delay or not. They could decide on a whim to change their mind and redeifine what “legacy” means (not that it couldn’t already be twisted to mean absolutely anything they want).

They do not need to explain themselves and they should not care one jot what any of us say or “reckon”.

Wherever they chose to release content does not devalue the content we get in any way.

But it feeds the notion that other games from Bethesda will come to other platform. The consumers see that and think that “oh, great. I don’t need Xbox because they will make the games for PS anyway”. For example with Sony people most of the time believe that the game is exclusive and people buy the platform knowing that they will get exclusive games. With Xbox? LoL

And those people will eventually be wrong, so who gives a shit?

They might be wrong, but they will buy into another ecosystem. You don’t need to encourage people to purchase other platforms.

and? Again, who gives a shit? Then they wont get to play the new quake, who cares. They already are in that ecosystem or they arent in one yet. No one is running out to buy a PS for a 25 year old remasters. Get a grip.

If you believe that releasing games on other platforms is a way forward fine. I don’t even want to discuss that anymore. Phew.

If this is true then that whole message about games will go wherever gamepass exist shit goes out the window. This game has no legacy on console and I seriously doubt there was a contract obligation to fulfill consider the switch and ps consoles are involved. The non exclusively isn’t the problem its that their messaging is always terrible.

Couldn’t agree more.

It’s just opening the doors to Playstation gamers arguing that every Bethesda game comes to Sony platforms.

Jeff Grubb seems to think the game could shadow drop today.
