Good timing. The player count continuously falling, so this would help to rebound and perhaps give a reason to remain investment.

Level 25 for Cryo Archive and Ranked also coming tomorrow. People better start to grind.

I will watch some stream to see what it’s like. It supposed to be the BIG thing!

Edit: It supposedly only playable on weekends :grimacing:

It is only playable on the weekends, yes. An odd choice.

I think they’re doing this to attract new and current audience in hope to stay afloat. I don’t think there’s many players concurrent, so they are doing this. Granted I think it was planned but timing does call for help.

Cryo Archive launch stream live now:

Bungie always makes hype trailers and vidocs

watched ubernick stream cryo last night a bit and its very clear, i’m absolutely not the target audience for Bungie any more :sad_but_relieved_face:

Cryo Archive is endgame. It’s like a Raid in Destiny, it’s not for everyone.

It’s my first real extraction shooter experience and I love it. You can absolutely play solo. There’s Rook to familiarize yourself with the map. You also have Free kits that you can use with basic stuff, essentially to play solo runs and try the different Shells/characters.

Losing stuff is not that big of a deal in that game. You can always get back up and anything you do is rewarded like an RPG. You’re always progressing your Factions/ rewards even if you fail to extract. Really, I think more people that are on the fence should try the game.

I heard Rand al Thor yesterday saying he loves it, even better than ARC Raiders, even though he doesn’t recommend it if you play alone. I will say solo is viable if you use the solo queue or Rook, it’s just more slow paced.

This is not for everyone. It looks intense.

I’m really surprised that the people playing Marathon are mostly loving it and are more positive than not but it isn’t picking up in players & the mainstream. Is it the GaaS saturation and now that Arc Raiders has been the hit in this genre it basically already saturated the genre?

Personally, I think that Sony/Bungie should have delayed the game to where more content was available day one and also to fine tune some of the UI and menus. That’s for the game itself.

In general, Arc Raiders is freaking awesome!!! I’m NOT an online co-op/multi-player gamer whatsoever and while I have played Arc Raiders 100% solo, it’s not what you would classify as a single player game. Arc Raiders is very casual friendly and unlike Marathon, there’s no mandatory resets or progress wipes. They have “expeditions” which is an optional reset which is great because I will most likely never do this because I don’t want to do everything over after having hundreds of hours into the game.

Back to Marathon, I think it will stay active for a few years but I don’t see Sony keeping it around for a decade unless it somehow blows up in player counts.
