What do we know about Sony’s marketing / preferential deal with ABK for COD content? The only good thing about this taking so long is that it’s running the days down until that expires, I can’t imagine ABK would renew the deal while this takeover is pending.
Every extra month before this is approved is one month less until that deal expires and MS can start prioritising xbox for content.
The last game is 2024. Interestingly theres supppsed to be a MW2 expansion this year. What is interesting about it is that it technically wouldnt have existed when Sony paid for the next 3 CoDs. …so could release on gamepass.
Its part of MW2 , so no, it cant release on gamepass. Sony doesnt do COD deals based on if a game will have DLC or not, they make the deal for the entire game… with all modes included.
Seems like MS has received a big support in Europe
About them
The European Games Developer Federation e.f. (EGDF) unites 23 national trade associations representing game developer studios based in 22 European countries. Through its members, EGDF represents more than 2,500 game developer studios, most of them SMEs, employing more than 40,000 people.
If Xbox lowered their commission from 30% to 12% like they did on their other platforms, it would certainly put Sony in a bad spot. Xbox is very close this gen and would be much more profitable to developers/publishers.
Instead of protecting American companies from Chinese influence led by the government, which increases every day, the FTC wants to block an American company that wants to buy an American company.
It’s so obvious that this purchase is the best thing for the employees but I guess the COD IP is more important than pro unionization and a healthy working conditions for these politicians.
That could help with low sales on Xbox if that was an actual issue, if they make more per copy then it would be easier to support the platform. It’ll cost Sony more to block an Xbox release. Microsoft should do this, would kinda screw over Sony by being the nice guy lol.
It’s kinda funny seeing how out of proportion news outlet have overblown this article in the search of clicks. Either way, LinkedIn went through the same process, that’s how it closed with remedies. I expect things to wrap up sooner than LinkedIn’s case.
Im going to be really interested how much of this is a result of Microsoft leaning into the ChatGPT focus and getting rid of R&D that worked on AI and automation.
