Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT3| - Sony bends the knee!

It don’t but if it did it would just be funnier. And it’s all money for Xbox.

Am I the only one who still doesn’t have any faith the intentions of the CMA and other regulators like New Zealand? I just don’t have a good vibe from these people to do their jobs in good faith based on how tainted they’ve been the past 18 months.

I don’t trust them like you.

MS should just closed in the states on Monday don’t trust CMA fully.

They’ve done nothing to instill any faith in their judgment and intentions. It’s extremely dangerous to leave the CMA with all the power it has with the lack of good faith they’ve shown. The UK government needs to add some laws to add checks & balances to the process.

Sony: This deal is getting worse all the time!

MS: Perhaps you feel you’re being treated unfairly?

Sony: Uh…no, no of course not.

MS: Good. It would be a pity to remove digital access rights for PS5 for CoD.

:grinning:

Whelp, in that case: Incredibly common Jim Ryan L.

But because PlayStation is bringing in millions of dollars based off productions greenlit prior to him getting the main job, he must be smart, according to a certain other forum.

So all they got was the original offer.

At one point Jim Ryan was demanding all Activision titles and I believe he at least inferred he wanted Bethesda ones as well. Then it sounds like at some point he was offered extended COD marketing.

He didn’t negotiate them off the original position at all as far as I can tell.

EDIT: actually looking at the email in Toms tweet above it looks like he might have actually lost ground. Looks like Phil offered him all existing Activision franchises at one point. Ouch.

Yeah, he was like “I want everything you’ve brought for $70B for my platform.”

WTF??? What would be the point for MS doing this deal then? That’s like Disney buying Lucasfilm and allowing Amazon and Netflix to stream all Star Wars content.

After both the stall and delay tactics used by both FTC and CMA, and now CMA wants to delay it some more. MS can closed in the states, they should. If they can closed anywhere else, they should.

CMA is a little more reasonable than FTC, but barely.

It feels so nice to have the upper hand and the last word.

So wait. They didn’t sign a worse version of the contract they initially got offered did they?

Just wanted to say, its been an amazing ride to see this through.

I even statyed up till 3am to listen to the court proceedings.

The moves that each party was pulling to get their outcome was fascinating and now seeing some moves fail spectacularly is also fun.

Cant wait for the games to be on gamepass

Sounds like they did. If I read that email correctly Phil offered all existing ABK titles and their future iterations until 2027. Jez said this just included COD.

Exactly like I thought, the CMA isn’t caving.

This is actually more interesting than people might think, the previous deal included everything but finished right before next gen, you know the exact time to make everything exclusive

Now it’s just call of duty but goes a few years into next gen, pretty much either way confirms some games will be exclusive, which is an obvious move!
