It’s a rumor but yeah it checks out with what we know of the next Starfield update.
What we didn’t know was the Unreal Engine hybrid, which sounds cool, at least on paper.
Some of the talk on reddit makes it sound that Microsoft and The Coalition doing part of the work and giving the recommendations on features to implement and probably how to do so.
So, it doesn’t sound like they’re going to change the best features of Creation Engine, just bring some of UE5s more modern features to it to make it more robust for future games (maybe even older games like Fallout 76 that still have people working on it).
Two engines at the same time? Like, some of the cool UE5 tech but also the cool stuff of CE2? Isn’t Oblivion Remake also a hybrid?
No, it’s Creation Engine getting some UE tech added to it, so it’s more like they see what EU is doing with certain stuff and updating Creation Engine 2 to 2.1 so that it can do the same. But it would still be Creation Engine not UE, from my understanding.
Interesting! But there’s no indication when we will see this, no eta on that?
Next update for Starfield apparently, so next year along with Terran Armada and the PS5 and Switch 2 launch.
Edit; Which should also make it to TES6 and FO5 with improvements as that’s just how that works out as development continues.
Feel Creation Engine 2 doesn’t get enough credit or props. Starfield looks gorgeous
Great to see Xbox’s different studios helping each other out that’s the way it should be ![]()
I can definitely see the Xbox Unreal Team bringing in the Metahuman technology from Unreal to the Creation engine. The character models from the Oblivion remaster look incredible!! The future of Bethesda titles will get a massive upgrade. Keep using that Microsoft money!!
Hey maybe the Starfield update!
Gotta give credit to Bethesda here, they won’t abandon this game and will put the effort into one big final update before going all hands on deck on Elder Scrolls 6 if these rumors are correct, if the update and new DLC are successful and revitalize the game, alongside a PS5 release then that’s only good news for the effort they’re going to put in Elder Scrolls 6.
Yeah, fair play to the staff and Xbox
Not gonna lie though, it should be all hands on deck for TES VI by now. So I guess I hope it’s just a small part of the team on Starfield, especially so ports for fucking Playstation and Switch. Ideal would be if they have the Oblivion Remake folks on that. But doubt it.
I was hoping for 2027 at the latest but probably should lean more towards 2028, especially so after what Todd said. Shit, maybe even 2029.
I expect 2028-2029 for it and imo it should have been all hands on deck for ES6 5 years ago, I would have prioritized that game over Starfield.
I would imagine they have small line working on Starfield while the main team are working on ES6. I hope to see it in 2028. Also hope the team are prepping Starfield 2 too
Given that MS/Xbox has closed studios due to not having another project ready to go into full development after their most recent release, I would not be suggesting to any of them to go all hands on deck on one title.
Starfield obviously did well enough to warrant keeping staff working on it, otherwise I’m pretty sure we’d have heard about further development on it being ceased.
Imo, TES6 has been all hands on for a while now, likely shortly after Starfield launched.
But like with Skyrim and Fallout 4, Bethesda is keeping a team on to keep doing work on those titles. Which can range from updates for bug fixes, small DLC through creations store, updates to bring them to current gen standard or new full on DLC like with Starfield.
I don’t count FO76 as Double11 is suppose to be the main team doing the work for it, but I wouldn’t be surprise if they’re also picking up Starfield to deve for.
I hear ya
Buuuuut, it’s The Elder Scrolls we’re talking about here. Not many other games out there that come close to GTA hype. ![]()
Sure, but hype only gets you so far. We’re seeing some fantastic competition in the open-world Action-Adventure space with Kingdom Come Deliverance, soon to be joined by Crimson Desert. The Witcher 4 is also on the way. Just saying it’s not wise to put all your eggs in one basket in this climate.
