I know. I just woke up… holy shit. I thought “Oh, it’s Friday. Not expecting much from Xbox. Hopefully they win the Twitter Poll” and they drop this.
Fwiw, this convinced my younger brother to sub to Game Pass. He barely plays anything not Nintendo or Sports Games and I gave him my old One S, but EA Play, NBA and this won him over. I think this is part of MS’s Blue Ocean style play. They have enough for us hardcore, now to win over the sports fans and families.
sony fans love paying full price so it’s not a big deal for them.
normal people like me who would never touch this game, will now give it the ol game pass go.
how tf are actual “journalism” sites messing up this bad with the headlines. The game isn’t published by Sony in this case yet they go ahead and say this shit, is it just to rile people up?
Sony cannot afford to do what MS are doing. Certainly not anytime soon. They’ll need a huge PS5 install base to even do what MS are trying to do and eat up the costs in the short term. Right now Sony are trying kill off legacy platforms and will soon kill PS4 too.
Also Sony will not put their big First party games on a sub servie day 1. That would killa huge chunk of their revenue. And they will certainly not put those games on PC.
Sony don’t need to do anything right now as theyre selling consoles and will continue to do so. But the real challenges will come when were 2 years in and you aren’t selling out your consoles and you need something more than just “oh it s new console lets go buy it for cool dualsense gimmicks”
When I was a kid in the 70’s/80’s (yes, I’m old), guys had their manhood tied to the car they drove. Now I guess it’s tied to plastic electronics. Strange world…
Or rather, what happens if this cycle the most popular titles are the deeper experiences like western rpg’s? Every cycle the most popular genre seems to change. If it moves on from the cinematic TPS niche Sony enjoys now, then what?
Ppl gotta remember that XGS was seen as dominating Sony 1P during 360 days and it wasn’t til PS4 that it inverted. Ppl act like it’s always been this way but that ain’t close to true. Broad scale tastes and expectations ebb and flow, especially as userbases start over and customer buying decisions are still fluid.
