Wow, what a pleasant surprise. This one is a whole lot better than the previous one, after having seen this though it does make the first one a bit better than it was before, if that makes sense.
There’s humanity and some real brutality at the same time in this. The badguy is awesome, plays his role super well and I will say the same of Kelson, which is of course Ralph Fiennes. I truly hope the wait for the third one won’t be too long. I really like how short the wait between part one and two was.
I havent seen the new one yet, 28 years later i mean. The old movies are classics, have they ruined the franchise ! Do these new ones have the same feel of the earlier movies ?
Andor : man, how good is season 2 of Andor. Was afraid Disney were going to mess something else up along with every one else using series or movies for their own agendas. Immense !
Hmm, not exactly. New stuff is introduced in 28 Years Later and part 2 and it took me a while to get used to it. But I’m happy they were made and hopefully part 3 will be great too.
Absolutely, I think so. Season 1 of Andor could have easily been set into any other oppressive setting as any IP that wasn’t Star Wars. It wouldnt really need anything outside of the most minor adjustments.
But is it ultimately just anti Disney sentiment ?
I appreciate that, but not sure how the environment in Andor doesnt have Star wars painted all over it, in a good way.
I have criticisms too, like the rubbery stiff faced background aliens etc just like i do of Alien Earth and the never before seen ragdolling of the Xenomorph by a female lead or the ‘Louie the fly’ treatment of the facehuggers, but their isnt anything else matching it or in the works.
Maybe im being to kind and desperate for old school content ??
Oh its certainly isn’t an anti-Disney statement. Its a positive statement that the story and character development is so great about living in an oppressive government environment that it could be transplanted to any other universe.
I guess what I should’ve said was it avoided all the worst aspects, at least to my personal tastes. None of the emphasis on silly acrobatics, light sabers, the force etc. While keeping the cool ships, droids and aliens.
More so that it focused on the political interests, cool spy stuff and great charecters like Mon, Luthen and his assistant Klaya. Especially Kleya who became my favorite on the show…hell any show! She’s right up there with Camina Drummer on the Expanse as my sci-fi queens. My previous character in Starfield was named Camina and my new one is named Kleya
Being a disabled person who has a LOT of time on my hands, I’ve really gotten into watching movie reactions on Youtube. And I’ve come across a rather disturbing trend recently. And that’s the amount of people who are “suddenly discovering” old Rob Reiner films like When Harry Met Sally and A Few Good Men ever since the man’s murder along with his wife. They probably claim it’s paying tribute to his memory, but I’ll never know, because I refuse to click on them, as it just feels gross. Like they only exist to exploit his tragic death just to get some views and likes…then again, I am a cynical bastard

Korean Cinema remains unique and I love it. That being said, I had a hard time really getting into this one until the second half. The first half has this weird mix of comedy with drama with comedy music playing and it’s kinda all over the place. Second half was loads better.
Acting is completely on point, the lead is the guy from A Bittersweet Life, I saw the Devil, Squid Game etc.
I had seen this years ago but I decided to rewatch The Wailing. The way the Koreans do these things, they just do it different than Hollywood. The concept isn’t super original or anything but how it’s done is just so good. And it kept me guessing too, isn’t exactly predictable.
