It’ll be more powerful and expensive and nothing else will change.
I vividly remember the PS5 hype machine and how gaming was going to change forever and… the best thing to play on PS5 is an arcade-esque third person shooter with clearly defined levels, power ups and progression gates.
Don’t get me wrong. Fine by me, but lord the hype machine is stupid.
True, we all remember that UE5 demo they had running on PS5, now we’re almost at next gen and we’ve still had nothing near it…
Closest has probably been Hellblade 2.
Although we’ve also had nothing like the Matrix demo we had on Series consoles either, which was stunning
Cerny hyping up the SSD as a game changer in terms of how the developers will design their games has to be the biggest BS that Sony managed to pull off when they tried to hype a next gen console, at least the Emotion Engine and Cell had some unique strengths and qualities even if they ended up also being overhyped to hell and back…but the out of this world hype surrounding a simply fast SSD was hilarious. lol
Hellblade 2 came really really close and it’s at the same ballpark resolution and frame-rate wise (~1440p at 30fps). We still haven’t seen what The Coalition will do with UE5 as (besides Epic) they are the most capable studio with the engine since Gears 4 came out. Gears 5 & Hivebusters are UE4 and they both still look absolutely amazing.
If a game with a high budget and a capable team behind it targeted 1440p/30fps with going all in on the visuals I think that a Matrix tech demo level of fidelity/presentation can be possible on the Series X.
Excited to see how E-Day looks! ![]()
