This feels like them course correcting a LOT after 3 years, because this just sounds like the initial pitch of Overwatch 2 albeit without the emphasis on PVE. Honestly I’m interested and it comes in only several days. It sounds like actual seasons as in TV streaming show seasons, and I wonder how they actually tell a story I can get invested in without the whole game being PVE.

Since the MP is where the story is going to be told, I wonder if it will be a little like Titanfall, where there was a story we could unlock in the MP.

This is really good. Kind of sad that we’ve waited 10 years for this…some kind of story ingame.

10 years makes me feel so old. It’s more than just sad too. Everything about the pitch for Overwatch 2 was “STORY STORY STORY”. They hyped it up so much for narrative and PVE content. I remember back when originally PVP was promised to be crossplay between 1&2 and 2 was going to be a whole different standalone game with a story driven PVE experience. Then they just dropped all that and it feels like they’ve been kinda meandering ever since not really knowing what the path forward was. There’s been good additions and changes to the basic PVP, but it felt like they fumbled all the energy Overwatch had built up. It was really bad too cuz in the several months prior to Overwatch 2 they stopped updating Overwatch with new content. I remember those days feeling really dry and sour and all the community had was the promise of Overwatch 2. Then that was smoke and mirrors.
This feels like they actually have a direction they want to take the game, plans to execute it, and we don’t have to wait long to see the outcome.
