PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Imagine Xbox studios making patch for this thing… I hope they won’t bother. Why would they ?

Because they already do so when launching on PS5, while trying to patch for the same features on Xbox.

I guess it triggers me a bit. I want these studios to focus on Xbox and PC and don’t waste time on PS5 specific features.

Technically Xbox already has all the features PS5 pro is getting. It’s just no one adopted them beside vrr, so we’re only now getting Super Resolution but only on PC.

(if) It gets a proper Pro patch and of course the DualSense support… Well, it annoys me too.

The PS5 version will probably be a priority, this is where they can sell the most now that the studios can’t rely on the Game Pass “safety net” and have to bring in the big cash anyway.

Sell the most after being out on Xbox and PC for 4-5 months? Not too sure about that, this industry works on FOMO and generally, a game is out of the zeitgeist before 3 months have passed these days.

Maybe, in terms of raw sales, PS may have more than Xbox. However, actual player count will likely be mostly on Xbox and PC, thanks to GP and Steam, especially if it does well critically.

Sea of Thieves did pretty well after 6 years…

What would be the point of releasing Indy on PS5 if they didn’t expect to sell?

Sea of Thieves sold well (suggested to be more than 1 million), but it fell off the PS top 10 sales charts rather quickly.

Also, I never suggested that it won’t sell on PS, only that I have doubts that it will easily sell more when it’s being ported later, in light of how current gaming market functions.

Pretty damn good for such an old game I’d say. 6 years is pretty far away from those 3 months…

I just think that Indy will sell very well on PS, and the zeitgeist will be renewed with the help of media favouring the PS release.

Sure, it will sell well, but the ‘most’ is my doubt even with the zeitgeist, especially when ‘newer’ promising AAA games are releasing around that timeframe.

Also, it won’t be released after 3 months either.

PS5 has went up in price multiple times and is the hardware they want for the masses while Pro is to get as much out of the hardcore as possible

I certainly wouldn’t expect drops

I don’t understand what you are saying so I’ll just let it be.

Yeah, that won’t happen.

I do look at the price a liiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit more favourably now that I realized it has a 2TB storage.

Which is of course only useful if one where to use it as a main console.

Was FF VIIR more GPU or CPU intensive ? If it is the former, it could explain why the 60 FPS is more consistent. For the latter, I think the Pro will have a harder time.

GPU, that’s why they had to drop to like 720p in performance mode.

Even with the 2tb of storage 800 euros is a laughable price especially with no freakin’ drive and with this level of upgrade hardware wise IMO. I just can’t see this price favourably in any way for this product…800 euros is just GTFO level of price for a console IMO! :stuck_out_tongue:

About the sales of Indy Mort I think that you are putting too much faith on the PS fanbase…even Sony’s 1st party sales numbers are not what they should be so let’s wait and see about the Indy sales. Indy releasing close to other big AAA releases (like Monster Hunter for example) and it’s metacritic score (mid-80s is the best case scenario IMO) may affect negatively the PS5 sales…to what degree we will see I guess. That being said it will be very interesting (for MS too surely) to see how the game will do on the PS5.

Rebirth’s performance mode didn’t run at 720p (FF16 run at this resolution range), IIRC it was more in the ~1200p range and the cause for the lackluster IQ was their problematic upscale method.

The price is still ridiculous, just a liiiitle bit less so.

Maybe, MS Gaming seems to put a lot of faith in PlayStation so who knows.

I’ve seen this a couple times now and I’m not sure where this has come from? Their first party has continued to sell very well.

Concord on the other hand…

Indy will surely be a good test case for the whole multiplatform thing MS is going with right now, HFR and Pentiment were too niche to come to any conclusions about the potential of this experiment but Indy will be a big enough game and IP for MS to really get a good idea if the good (PS sales) can outweigh the bad (brand image/Xbox fans not being thrilled). Interesting times ahead nonetheless.

Those big first party games like TLOU, Horizon, GoW etc

They sell many millions but their costs are sky rocketing, Spiderman 2 tripled in budget, its unsustainable
