PS6 may be delayed to 2028/2029

Ok, at least this link from the article seems to be working.

As for this report, I guess the rumors going around have some credibility.

Honestly sounds believable. I don’t think Sony releases anything until 2028. I think 2029 is a stretch though unless the RAM situation is really that bad.

Xbox now, I think 2028 is probably where they land too because while 2027 would be nice I think they really want to make sure that hybrid experience is good.

I think 2027 is Xbox’s everything is going good and no set backs launch time.

With the way both Tom Warren and Jez have talked about it, they maybe thinking a delay could happen.

I feel like 2028 isn’t too bad - there is still plenty of juice left in the current gen systems.

Yep, I don’t really need anything more.

Could basically go 10 years with the PS5/XSX as the target hardware just fine. And with the Switch 2, that would be even more extended. The next-gen consoles will simply be like the high-end GPU cards.

It will make up for the lost years with Covid

So then if there isn’t a new Xbox console by 2027 does that mean Xbox is ded….AGAIN?

And if so, who will be the first youtube grifter saying so. My money is on Matty

Yep that’s exactly what it seems like. I do hope 2028 though to make sure the price can come down a little and the OS is polished.

I don’t think he’s a a grifter but there is definitely going to be grifters around the brand going forward until it’s not profitable anymore.

There’s nothing they can really do to avoid that unfortunately but it’s better that things are polished to at least cut down on that narrative.

Doesn’t Sony have some levers they can pull???

Yes, and no for me.

I mean already with a lot of games today I go for the quality mode because I just find the overall picture quality significantly better than performance mode and I’m hoping next gen we could finally see a change to that. The thing PS5 Pro has been promising and apparently soon will start delivering with PSSR 2.0(yeah, we’ll see)), I want that too.

Plus that if all goes well we’ll have Steam and EGS on it. Really. Really hope it’s 2027 but Jez said it’s a best case scenario, and AMD I believe said….could launch, so I’ll keep my expectations in check.

Yep, I am really happy with my SX…the last of my concerns gaming-wise right now is how the games look and run - even AA/smaller games look great nowadays.

While I can wait for new consoles, but I think Xbox is probably locked in for 2027. Slowing down the SeriesX/S is likely because they are shifting focus to the new console. If the Xbox releases in 2027, the 2029 is probably too late of a start for the PS6 because it gives Xbox a headstart with time to react to the PS6 with a revision.

I’d imagine Sony is just going to wait to see what MS does though, they will definitely try to capitalize on that.

I saw someone unironically argue that Sony could negotiate better prices on components because they are a much bigger and more powerful company than Microsoft. I think they genuinely did not realize that Microsoft has other products than just Xbox.

I want to see/hear about the new xbox device sooner than later. Not b/c I need to rush out and upgrade. I just want to understand how serious xbox/ms is taking this new hybrid path. I believe them when they hint at the future, but it still needs to be proven with results.

I think the next Xbox will come out in 2027. I think Xbox will do what they can with Windows 11. However the big change we want from Windows will come from Windows 12. For now it will just be patch work and band aids for Windows 11. I honestly believe the future of gaming is Xbox with Windows as the best OS in gaming.

I think we hear more about it sometime this year as part of the Xbox 25 celebrations because it’s a good jumping off point to show where they’re going with the brand.

Sony does not need to release in 2027, as they have their part of the base locked down. Nintendo is thinking about possibly raising the price of the Switch 2 as well, so it’s unlikely they’ll lose any market share to them.
