Resident Evil Requiem Is The Fastest Selling Game In Series History

Hitting 5 Million Faster Than a Nemesis Pursuit

To put this speed into perspective, Resident Evil Requiem completely blew past the record previously held by the Resident Evil 4 remake.

According to Capcom’s reports and historical estimates, the Resident Evil 4 remake took nearly four months to reach 5 million sales, while the now third-place Resident Evil Village took nearly five months to hit that same mark. So the gap is quite staggering!

And this at $70, without last-gen consoles.

I read that it took more than a year for RE 7 to get to 5 millions and it even took Village half a year. Requiem reached that mark in 5 days. Really impressive!

RE series got back to its vintage form as in franchise is very popular again. RE7 was their savior. It’s been well over years since 8 and Remakes were there to bring more interest, especially Leon is now a certified Doomguy. All in all, a job well done!

Considering the fact that PS4 and Xbox One had a much bigger combined userbase, I wonder if this is mostly due to PC or Switch 2, or a mix of both as the reason why it sold so well.

The marketing for this was really all over the world, I don’t think Switch 2 affects that much with its current user base but PC for sure has grown the audience for RE and Capcom games

I’d be really susprised if the switch 2 had that much impact considering it still JUST came out last year and doesn’t have a massive install base itself. Xbox Series and PS5 should both have significantly more users than the Switch 2. It’s probably a good spread with a big boost for PC sales.
