Having OTs is up to the users, but I’d love to see more of it!

Noted! It could be cool to have OTs for big titles like Requiem. I will do my best to make them when I can, but the community is, of course, welcome to do the same!
Just finished the game, loved it. The only area I found to be weaker than the rest was the east Raccoon city area, annoying enemies and overall bland area design despite some nice set-pieces
Finished the first meaty section with Grace yesterday and oh boy this was the best survival horror since the comeback of the series with RE7, the zombies 2.0 are no joke and are proper obstacles this time around since even one enemy can be terrifying. The level design is also the best since RE7 IMO, inventory management is even better this time around too. From the little I’ve played with Leon he feels like a proper evolution of RE4 and what RE5 could’ve been if Mikami was still the director. Everything is polished AF and the gameplay is so much fun with both protagonists.
Also I am playing on Standard Classic with no upgrades and without using the one hit kill injectors and the game is very challenging for a Standard mode, can’t wait to see what Insanity is like.
I think when it’s a game we review making an OT that is also our review thread works well when possible. If an OT comes up months before a game is out, to talk about it, is fine as its own thing though.
Since I don’t know about which game you are asking, REmake 4 = very good IQ and RE9 = decent IQ. RE9 has some shimmering in places and it’s not the sharpest game IQ wise (still better than most UE5 games), not a problem by any means but I am not that hard to please IQ wise. Game looks really nice overall and runs extremely well even in the busiest scenes which is a huge plus IMO.
BTW Capcom did some amazing work with the animations in this game, so many little animations that add so much personality to both Grace and Leon. This must be the RE with the biggest budget since RE6. Awesome stuff!
I think game OTs that go up early, like say a Crimson Desert one going up this week, stay as the main hub for talking about the game and then when I make our review thread it can become a hub for all of the game’s reviews. That way there is a good reason for having two threads for a single game, if that makes sense?
I absolutely loved it, even though there’s some lows (it’s par for the course), but the highs are the highest of highs in the whole series.
They have managed to do the impossible : merge the new Resident Evil flavour from 7 and 8 with the Remakes one. All the call backs and nods to the long history of the series is the cherry on top.
Story is also one of the best, which is surprising.
I really enjoyed the game, but I disagree on it being the best. Honestly I dont even know if I would put it in the top 5. I find that I have almost no desire to ever play it again. If I were to place it in an order, after having sat with it for a day…. my series ranking would be:
RE1/Remake
RE2/Remake
RE4/Remake
RE7
RE Village
RE Requiem
RE Code Veronica
RE3/Remake
RE 0
RE 5
RE 6
(have no idea why it wont let me format that list the way I want)
For every thing I enjoyed about the game (visuals, story, characters, atmosphere, fan service) there are things I didnt (some parts dragged, lack of puzzles, leaned into the over the top cheese too much at times). The scale of the world/locations felt big, but in reality were pretty small. The hotel and the care center in particular.
Finished the game two days ago and overall I must say that it exceeded my expectations, it’s the best mainline game in the series since RE4. It’s like a very successful mix of REmake 2 and REmake 4, Grace’s sections are peak RE survival horror and Leon’s parts have some really great combat scenarios/set-pieces that feel like an evolution of RE4 while both protagonists play amazingly well. Atmosphere and art direction were very good too plus the music was decent. Overall I loved the game and can’t wait to do more playthroughs on Insanity!
