RUMOR: Devil May Cry 1 Remake Seemingly in Development at CAPCOM

Renowned CAPCOM leaker Dusk Golem recently corroborated a claim from an anonymous insider that Ada Wong will appear in Resident Evil Requiem DLC. However, after Dusk Golem named that insider as his source, Reddit users went digging through the same person’s post history and surfaced a series of additional CAPCOM-related claims, none of which Dusk Golem has vouched for. The leaker has since explicitly distanced himself from the two most attention-grabbing ones: “The Devil May Cry 1 Remake and RE10 protag rumor did not come from me. Typical deal of people stuffing rumors together and then claiming I said them — that happens to me all the time. I’ve said absolutely nothing on either topic to date.”

Still, let’s go into those other claims, which cover everything from a Devil May Cry 1 remake to internal project codenames, development timelines, and what’s coming after the highly successful Resident Evil Requiem, which became the fastest-selling entry in CAPCOM’s revered horror franchise.

The single biggest and most surprising reveal in the leak is undoubtedly that a full remake of the original Devil May Cry, first launched in 2001 for Sony’s PlayStation 2, is allegedly in active development. No further details were provided, but the claim alone is significant, given that DMC has had no mainline installment since 2019’s Devil May Cry 5. CAPCOM has never officially acknowledged a remake project for the action series, and this is entirely new information not previously reported by Dusk Golem or other leakers.

It’s Dusk Golem so take it with a large bag of salt, as always. Plans can change and leakers could be BSing.

I saw on Neogaf that Dusk is apparently claiming he has nothing to do with this.

CAPCOM is second place after Nintendo in the “company leaving money on the table” ranking.
