Apparently, aside from DLC plans for Outer Worlds 2, it seems like Obsidian is making no plans for Outer Worlds 3 (but they are doing Avowed 2).
Obsidian delivered 3 games this year, so it’s obvious their work schedule is pretty tight. So, if they wanted to continue with TOW, it could already be on the planning stages but I can also see them just make a new IP as well.
I’m excited for a potential Avowed 2. I think the “bigger and better” should really work for it.
I also hope they have another CRPG in their schedule for the future, maybe even a Pillars 3, if Avowed won’t be the only future entries into their world of Eora.
Yeah, Baldur’s Gate 3 left a vacuum in the CRPG space. I still need to play PoE 2.
Microsoft really should just fund them doing it whatever the hell they want. They’re one of the only studio that the hands off approach trallh trallh worm. They deliver and they deliver timely. Grounded and Pentiment kept Xbox breathing in 2022. In 2024 we got three bangers in spring (technically very late winter), summer, and fall! Obsidian did half of the “One big game a quarter” all by themselves. If they want to return to POE or Pentiment or Avowed or Outer Worlds or do a new IP or work on Fallout again or Star Wars KOTOR III or whatever, just let em cook!
Avowed/PoE and Outer Worlds are decent IP but im ready for them to work on a Fallout, after seeing a big jump in the RPG systems in Outer Worlds 2 im excited for any future Fallout they work on (which they definitely are, cause papa Microsoft want that money from their most popular IP)
Happy with the news myself Avowed is such a good game with splendid art direction and great simple to use and learn combat system
Xbox will get no credit for it but Xbox studios have run Obsidian so well and should be the model for their other studios
