I keep seeing comments online about how boring our Cyberpunk dystopian is, and yeah… at least a mind controlling brain implant to replace phones would be more interesting.

Won’t cellphones also go up in price due to all of this? This is definitely something the general public would feel.

They already are, but (at least for the 2025/26 models) they are mostly choosing to cut back in other areas. e.g. removing the Bluetooth from the s24 stylus to keep prices roughly equivalent.

I suspect that the s25 is actually a bit worse than the s24 which is why if you go to the comparison website (UK at least) you can only compare s23 to s25 there is no option to do a 24 to 25 one.

Jez Corden saying that the Nextbox is full on Windows/Xbox PC App in a console box makes me not want a Nextbox anyway. Imagine going from the Xbox Series that has amazing features such as Quick Resume to a Windows experience, what a huge downgrade that would be. Combine that with how much the thing is going to cost and yeah Series is more than likely going to be the last Xbox console i own

I think that MS will know how to handle these aspects. This next Xbox is going to be a niche console. The best place to play MS published games will be your PC. For console gamers, it will be the Next Xbox. The mainstream will play on PS6, but if the rumors are correct, it will be the weakest hardware to play these games.

By mainstream you specifically mean mainstream console players, right?

With PC matching console revenue, while having been growing at a faster rate for the last several years, all on top of player preferences shifting away from proprietary gaming devices, console-only players are increasingly moving down the totem pole in terms of priority.

Don’t forget that this is very early reporting, and he also says:

" Microsoft is working on major updates to the Xbox PC app to accommodate this, bringing it more closely in line with what Xbox console players will expect when engaging with a device on their TV, rather than at their desk."

It would be foolish of MS to effectively degrade console features by blindly swapping out the current one for standard windows and although they are not beyond foolish decisions I don’t think this is a mistake they are going to make.
