According to a fresh rumour, this version of the game is apparently coming to PS5. Polish website PPE.pl who just last week claimed that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be jetting to Sony’s system this November is now on record saying that Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut is a lock.
To be clear, this is a pretty much an unproven source — but the existence of such a port would hardly come as a shock to anyone. Back when Director’s Cut was revealed, a Nintendo press release claimed that it was arriving “first” on Switch 2.
Of course, there’s an RGG Summit livestream set for this Wednesday, the 24th September. It’s assumed that an announcement will be made during the broadcast.
Its likely but i do wonder what the difference actually is? Like i already have yakuza 0 on my library(Console version) so what could it bring to me personally is what am saying.
From the article:
The so-called Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut features additional cutscenes, an action-heavy only co-op mode, and optional English voice acting.
i have spent over 50 hours in Yakuza 0. thanks, i’m fine. but everyone who hasn’t played it yet should do it directors cut or not.
If you’re fine with spoilers, this YouTuber is kinda into the Yakuza community (from what I can tell) and looks into the changes with a more positive lens than I think most (like forward thinking, but still critical).
No spoiler summary: So, if you’ve played Yakuza 0, not much is different. There’s some quality of life improvements (like you can save everywhere now) and what not. Maybe we’ll see some performance and resolutions bumps once it’s off Nintendo Switch 2. The additional cutscenes are apparently a bit of a controversy. None really add that much (in terms of pure on screen content), but some change a lot of overall story (for this game and beyond potentially) with minor changes. Feelings seem to be mixed. I guess it’s like the Synder Cut except no one, not even a cult following, asked for this AFAIK.
The biggest thing I saw is that the “additions” weren’t worth the price tag on Nintendo Switch and buying the game again in general. It’d be baller if current Yakuza 0 owners got a free copy, but I feel like that’s not happening.
