You got to be fucking kidding me, Sony…
We can’t have Resistance or Killzone Collections, but here’s Horizon Hunters Gathering and Fairgame$ everybody! This blows.
Ugly nasty link that includes JS’s reading credential:
It’s not PlayStation vs Xbox anymore, it’s just studios trying to survive.
Had they even released anything since being acquired by Sony? Looks like no? Sony literally bought them up in order to release nothing, and then shut the studio? Unbelievably shitty.
Obviously BluePoint doing a game for PS5 wasn’t exclusive enough, it should have been for PSVR2, that would have saved them. Exclusive exclusives are the key…
We’ve got the letter from Herman Hulst in our article, per the direct copy paste from Resetera.
i did not have this on my 2026 bingo card. wow
true
The joke of Hermen Hulst being obsessed with Aloy is starting to seem like a real thing. Dude does nothing but greenlight more Horizon games and cans any studio not working on Horizon. What is his deal.
This blows, they were an incredibly technically talented studio who did some miraculous ports and would’ve been great at porting games left in PS3 prison. I wish they’d at least been sold to someone. Real sad that talent isn’t appreciated as much as IP.
Also Bloodborne remaster/remake chances now much lower isn’t it? I thought they’d be making a remake for the PS6 launch
Media Molecule, Sony Bend, Haven, and possibly even Bungie are next on the chopping block. Unless they can pivot to a Horizon project maybe.
Bend Studios and Bluepoint games being cancelled, Guerilla working on an Forniteish Horizon GaaS, Insomniac converted into Marvel factory (understandable tho), lots of samey sequels lately..
I did read Sony as a game maker is irrelevant this gen, and while their games sell, i totally agree, nothing new or fresh, a retarded focus on GaaS, and i say retarded because you can create great GaaS games, but it’s so clear Sony bosses are just trying to chase the trend, i bet if we ever see that God of War live service game, it’ll have some absurd cartoony graphic style.
American big studio and publisher management has been the shit this decade.
Awful stuff.
Is it starting to sink in yet that this industry really is in quite a bit of trouble, in spite of how many hardware units a company sells?
I still think this year will see more announcements like this to come, across all publishers.
Yeah, I do not think people appreciate how precarious the gaming industry is in atm with all the head winds.
I really do fear for Bungie if Marathon is not a major hit.
When can the media start accurately pointing out how Sony is arguably the most-ineptly run Publisher at this point? How many studio closures is this of their recent purchases that hadn’t even released a single title post-acquisition?
(rhetorical on both points, I already know)
My heart goes out to all those affected; that was an insanely talented group of devs.
Anybody still want to argue that Sony’s pivot to GAAS hasn’t been an existential disaster? ![]()
Insomniac and Sucker Punch keeping Sony on life support.
Always has been… that’s what I’ve been saying for years and why the media and zeitgeist trying to paint one entity as the baddy was always disingenuous, and with every industry that was touched by the Epstein Class, is arguably propaganda to help distract from the forest. If people realize every figure of authority might not be telling you the truth, it breaks their entire economy.
You put what I wanted to say into words. Playing “my favorite company is better than yours” distracts from the reality that most of the horrible decisione made from all companies are the results of an aggressively and increasingly anti-human, anti-art financial system.
It’s really sad that the acquisition gave so many dreams of old IP getting remastered, especially once they were hail as king of remaster with their wizardry upgrade. And now they are gone. It’s unbelievable.
