Starfield Is The Latest Xbox Exclusive To Shoot To The Top Of The PS5 Charts

Starfield’s Premium Edition Is Currently The PS5’s Best-Selling Pre-Order

Pre-orders for Starfield on PS5 opened alongside confirmation that it would be coming to the PlayStation platform earlier this week, and it has already ascended to the tippy top of the PlayStation pre-order chart. Even more impressive, the Starfield that’s topping the chart right now is the more expensive premium edition, likely because it will include the newly revealed Terran Armada DLC.

Isn’t the first and won’t be the last. I’m expecting it to completely crush Marathon and Saros combined for the month of April. Wouldn’t be surprised if Halo CE/Gears/Fable beat out Wolverine in the Fall/Holidays.

No chance, Wolverine is a big IP already with PS studios and Insomniac name to boot, unless it’s some broken disaster then it’s probably gonna be the in top 5 selling of the year comfortably and it won’t be surprising, just like Starfield doing well isn’t surprising because Bethesda is a big brand name no matter what some grifting idiots pretend.

Yeah, they probably won’t outsell Wolverine but it would be hilarious if any one of them did. Starfield isn’t surprising at all. It’s Bethesda Game Studios. People can say whatever they want but their games rarely miss.

The Starfield minefield was hilarious. “I played this game for a thousand hours: here’s my expose on why it’s dog water gutter trash.” I remember a report that Starfield was the most talked about video game that year it released with the most articles on it. People were losing their minds over it trying to explain how they both spent hundreds of hours in it & why it’s super terrible.

Ever since it was announced in June 2021 at the Xbox Games Showcase as a console exclusive (back then), everyone has been shitting on the game non-stop from people who have never played the game and never will to gaming media which is beyond a fucking joke at this point. The quote you posted was from Steam. Literally, 700 hours or some shit - “I can’t recommend the game”. Like, WTF? Who plays a game for 700 hours or whatever but can’t recommend it? It literally made no sense.

Starfield has it’s issues, problems and negatives like all games do but the hatred it received for years which is still going today is just fucking insane.

I’ve never seen a game that more people have been so invested in pushing the narrative that it was a universal disappointment and no one liked it. Not just that they personally don’t like it - that’s totally fine. But it’s very important to them to live in a reality where no one likes it.

Maybe now that it’s not a console exclusive anymore, people won’t be so hung up on it.

I’m expecting the rating on Open Critic to jump to a 90+ once the PS5 version releases in two weeks.

This kind of thing, rather counter intuitively imo, shows it’s not the games that matter, in a sense. People want to play these games - but they want to do so where they are already, i.e. with their friends list, achievements/trophies, and in a set up the are familiar with.

I recall Phil Spencer saying ‘losing’ the Xbox One era was a disaster because digital libraries became far more important, and more people got a PS4, embedding themselves in PSN et al.

The noise about exclusives, the hype, the list wars: these games matter, but not as much as people pretend, imo. (Quite aside from how most people playing on console don’t even buy them anyway! The vast majority, in fact).

At this point it’s definitely just because it’s how things have been done, so it’s all the vocal minority endlessly console warring knows how to discus. It’s more about pleasing those people than stealing market share at this point. I think there is a prestige element to it and power in building the brand and building trust in the brand which makes people feel more comfortable buying from said brand and engaging with said brand. However, in a better world that’d also happen regardless of if the game was exclusive or not and all that’d matter is the game itself.

Hey I’m happy for the level headed PS5 owners, but for those clowns that always said….Xbox has no games, Starfield trash etc….it makes them look even more foolish. But I’d like to believe it’s only a minority that behaves that silly and pathetic.
