COD, MP shooters (id Software Quake Arena sort of stuff), Online MMOs (Zenimax Online Studios), MOBAs (Blizzard and others), RTSes (Blizzard, Mojang, others?) , Looter Shooters genre (Blizzard Diablo), Fighter Games (Killer Instinct)
Speaking of Capcom and relying on the same IP
Perfect timing ![]()
Moral of the story, first get an established pipeline of your core IP and up the quality,
This is one of the reasons why I’m optimistic of Microsoft upper management getting involved because they’ll actually start cracking the whip and keeping their studios in line
Seriously…Bonnie Ross should NOT have been in charge of 343i as long as she was but Phil is too soft to be a CEO…if he wants to still be the public face of Xbox fine but they need someone else keeping things in check and NOT Matt Booty
If I were the higher ups at Microsoft I’d mandate the studios provide milestones and updates every 6 months or else the leadership at the studios get replaced
Playstation is relying on their biggest IPs as well. And don’t forget Nintendo with Mario and Pokemon.
Everyone is relying on their biggest IPs.
Exactly, that’s why I believe that’s Microsoft game plan, get the pipeline in order first before trying to invest in new major IP
Fallout 3 remaster could very well have a multiplat launch. Same goes for any remasters really. Age of empires seems an obvious choice to me
It’s a little different when the box is just a PC running windows and not something proprietary.
One of his biggest regrets was getting out of phones. Leaving gaming as a platform would be just as bad. It makes zero sense, they will not do it as long as the market exists.
CoD is a given, we all knew about that one. TESO and 76 are already on PS, Diablo already is on there too. What I meant from already released games of theirs. Not necessarily future ones that are probably even quite far away too. =)
I wish I had your confidence. I agree it makes zero sense, but so does a lot of things but they still happen.
There has been zero to indicate that they plan to leave hardware. I have stopped caring about “insider info” for the most part. It’s all vague or early stage plans that inevitably change in some way.
That’s true too. I don’t even recall any insiders actually talking about MS leaving hardware. It’s solely by miserable clowns on sm hoping they leave the hardware behind, but that’s all there is on it. I do get Mort’s fear though, I share it, still.
Is it called plan latitude because they plan to sink the platform? ![]()
All their KPI’s are going south if they don’t change direction IMO, it looks like short term gain for long term loss.
Yeah I would be surprised if they did. But not as surprised as I should be so to speak.
The sad, and boring, part for me is that this multiplat strategy will most likely kill off the last bits of Xbox here in Europe.
If they make new hardware, will I even be able to get my hands on it? Who knows.
I’m mostly expecting those games to be honest, they have a precedent on other platforms so they’ll keep releasing everywhere.
Fuck, good point.
That would be like a repeat of Xbox One, except this time it won’t come even out a year later, just never, sheesh. We’d have to import one. I don’t like that idea at all.
Yeah that’s definitely not gonna happen lol.
Their IPs have global appeal, don’t think they’d drop support there. Isn’t there a rumour actually that Ms is opening more offices for Xbox in countries where they had no support before? Pretty I heard that last week on XB2 or Kinda funny.
I’m talking about console hardware.
No red line, huh. Guess nothing is sacred anymore.
I would be surprised if you have trouble getting HW in central Europe. We still have Amazon and MS store.
