Holy shit, I completely forgot about many of those. Didn’t realize so many remakes came out this year. Sheesh.
Wow! That is more than I thought!
Its a good thing. A few years ago at the start of the Xbox One gen the industry really forgot its legacy. But now we have bc on consoles and profitable ventures like Nightdive Studios, LRG, … who make a killing with this stuff. Quality is also improving a lot.
Yeah, which is why it’s silly there wasn’t a category for remasters/remake. I think it’s an easy category to include because their seems to be at least 5 of them a year. This year especially should’ve had one with all of those games mentioned above .
Next year we can easily have 5 games based on announced projects
Persona 3 remake
Lollipop chainsaw
Mario rpg because it misses cutoff this year
FF7 rebirth
Suikoden 1&2
Night dive working on a Star Wars dark forces remaster
Tomb raider 1-3
And there are a few others, but yeah it should def be a category because there’s at least 5 a year
So wait, is it having a resurgence or it’s always been this strong?
“World of Warcraft”? Is that game even on PS5? Never heard of it.
– critics, probably
Honestly , this award show is so console biased . I feel if BG3 wasn’t on consoles they might’ve skipped it lol . It’s crazy that WoW and Counterstrike doesn’t get nominated
They can add in remasters like Metroid Prime as well. It’s weird that GOTY is 6 but all other awards are 5? I didn’t even realize this until now which shows how much I pay attention to the game awards. lmao
I agree with everyone that the Gaming Awards is console and platform biased. Unfortunately I always felt that when Xbox said they were going to put their games on PC that would give the gaming media an out to not play any games for reviews on Xbox. They can I gnore the Xbox fan base and dismiss all 1st party games from Xbox. If Ori 1&2 and High-Fi Rush were exclusive games for Nintendo they would have been nominated for game of the year.
It also gives a snapshot of the industry. The Gaming Media at large mainly play and review games on PlayStation consoles and therefore are largely ignorant on anything outside PlayStation in the industry. If COD and Fortnite were not on PlayStation chances, are they would be ignored. One wonders where the fix should be applied.
I mean this is why I really appreciated it when Kinda Funny created the Xcast. They took an honest look at the presenters they’d assembled and realized that Xbox was a blind spot for them. Not because of ill will or intentional bias but just because the people on the team didn’t have a history with Xbox and weren’t Xbox fans. So they deliberately fixed the blind spot by adding the right people to the team.
It’s all about realizing that there’s a weakness and having the desire to fix it.

Someone needs to tell him he’s not Phil Spencer.
This guy is so convinced of his own importance.
To be honest I think the best way to fix it is the Nintendo route. Xbox doing their own thing with Game Pass is better. In the console race people just look at Xbox and PlayStation as the same and think if they have one it’s just as good. Breaking off with their own ecosystem and exclusives in time will greatly differentiate them as in no way replacements.
At least he has a new role model. LOL.
It’s why I actually hope they take some risks with their next console, I’m tired of PS and Xbox essentially being the same boxes that play mostly the same games
I’v never been a Nintendo fan but I do appreciate that they at least try very different things with their hardware, often things I cant stand but at least they’ve created their own thing, nobody is buying a Nintendo device and expecting a Playstation or Xbox experience
Agreed.
