The trailer was ok, but one character walking through devastated and empty lands and some dark glimpses of combat, it is not much to convince people who were not already convinced.
We need to see more.
I am ok with the trailer, but I am not surprised people want to see more.
I do wonder why after all this time many including the gaming media are calling out the TGAās . I think Microsoft did great here they took the Game awards for what it is and used it. The awards were practically meaningless. I bet the Hollywood crowd the show was desperately catering to have no idea of the awards. They basically came for the entertainment.
I didnāt see any of the gaming media champion Unions when Microsoft accepted it as a part of their ABK acquisition they were also quite loud in saying Microsoft was consolidating the industry. I do agree with your points though it feels more like their ego was wounded.
Kojima had always been special and has his fans. Still, you can not expect the same enthusiasm from this trailer compared to a classical MGS gameplay demo.
I canāt deny Iām curious to see how Death Stranding 2 is received in comparison to OD. Now that a lot of people have staked out the position the Kojima is just an annoying blowhard. Will that same energy be kept, as the kids say.
Nah, it was warranted because he took 10 mins to show something that is not ready to be fully shown. Plus, Geoff always does this for Kojima and it was just bad this year when they put a 30 second timer on speeches and even had to cut the GOTY speech short
True, but I heard it was like that last year with āPlease wrap it up.ā While I do think Kojima did go a little long, he did present affiliation with actor, PT is back in a metaphor way, and introduce the official title and focus. I would like a multiverse where Kojima present DS2 instead. Canāt help but feel like thereās a little more to than simply ātaking too long.ā This is internet reaction after all.
I donāt read/watch a lot of gaming media these days, but Kinda Funny did give props to Xbox for that. Outside of them, I do see a lot of hand-waving when it comes to the benefits of the moves Xbox have been doing. Probably why I donāt bother with the majority of them!
This might be an odd question, but there were rumored games like a new Shadowrun being shown at the VGAs from Otherera, do you think there was any truth to that game being in development, just Microsoft is saving it for a later reveal or just wishful thinking?
I really hope it is just being saved for a later date and can be a cyberpunk game that can rival Cyberpunk 2077 in the open world RPG space.
There also was other rumored games like Gears 6, which we know is in development, yet it makes sense to save that one for the Xbox special instead of showing it at the VGAs.
i think the please wrap it up is just an over correction for Christopher Judge really long ass speech so they did this but even i could see that it would be bad to limiting it to just a minute
People need to understand that live productions like the Game Awards are painstakingly timed out down to the minute. This is done because production costs are incredibly expensive, especially in a city like LA. If Geoff were to allow everyone to do what that guy did last year, it could cost the production tens of thousands of dollars, if not much more as the show inevitably runs over schedule.
Ultimately, the conversation needs to be about how Geoff can maybe show a few less trailers, dance numbers and or ten minute Kojima segments and instead give awardees a few more minutes to relish their victories. It wonāt happen though, because the show is about making money, and sadly no one cares about who actually wins. The show is a farce and everyone knows it. It often feels like Iām listening to people genuinely complain about something thatās happening in wrestling. Like, itās not real, so relax.
I canāt believe thereās a compilation of outrage clips over Spider-Man 2 not winning and how they are taking it really hard. My reaction for best action wasnāt even that serious. I was just like āAh damn.ā I guess Sony should have done a Homer moment where he took a statue set that resemble a trophy.
It also would save money if it wasnāt in Las Angeles California. There is venues in Texas or Arizona that are gaming hubs and you could save money.
Speaking for myself Iād get rid all the celebrities, because we know the vast majority put the industry down, have no idea what they are talking about and Iād also get rid of the singing & dancing.
Iāve never seen anyone watch the show because of that and it is for the game trailers, not the other stuff.
I also will add and Iāve said it for years Geoff treats the industry bad. The way the show has been presented always it seem like gamers and the game developers are children.
I can go back to the years it was on Spike and how the game company Gamecock acted and wasnāt just them, it was presenters too.
The industry deserves its own version of the Oscars, but he isnāt the right man for the job and in truth I think a SAG awards type show would be better than something like the Oscars.
So if anything no game trailers or just awards would be a better option, than this combo where both arenāt given the justice they deserve.
I think the answer is simple. They should have 2 separate shows. I think he should do a winter gamefest because this event seemed more like an E3 type of event with awards thrown in. I guess only issue with that is less people would watch the VGAs if they didnāt show trailers
