The video explains how to access the new high resolution texture pack from within the game, but there’s a catch, as it’s not a 20GB download on Xbox, like on PlayStation, but around 62GB. It seems a bit extreme and there’s no explanation why it’s 3 times the size of PS version, but it is what it is.
That is so weird, it’s feels that they chose not to compress the files on Xbox. Because even though the compression used on PS5 is better, it wasn’t anywhere near that big of a difference.
On PC it’s a pretty big issue, just look at Space Marines 2 recent free 4k texture pack. It brought the game from 75GB to 160GB, that’s an 85GB increase in total just for the textures.
I played the Metal Gear Solid Collection a bit over the weekend and MGS 3 looks incredibly clean with the High Res texture pack, as all the textures are entirely redone and upscaled to 4K with the help of AI. 60 GB are worth it.
