This case could set a precedent for other stores, so Microsoft moving to doing 12% on their store because they will be Console/PC hybrid could be for the best.

Let’s go!!! Microsoft being a head of the curve with an open ecosystem is the future of gaming!!! Let’s open up these storefronts!! Microsoft can’t be called a monopoly because their games from Activision, Bethesda, Blizzard, King and Xbox Games Studio are all multiplatform. Their next console/PC will have multiple storefronts, subscription services and cloud providers!! Xbox is the future of gaming!!

This will be interesting to follow. The whole 30% commission thing is definitely outdated. On the phone store side of things, to me, there is no question something has to change to increase competition to get that fee lowered.

However, this steam case isn’t as black and white to me. There wasn’t a lot of information in this article, but if it is just over their 30% sales commission, I’m not sure there is much of an issue. if they are tampering with how devs interact with other stores, then there is.

Other stores are available. Devs just need to support them so store competition is created. The PC environment is already open.

The article mentions DLC lockin, but again, is that a store issue or a development issue?
