It’s about the pricing I was expecting after the delay and I can see the 2tb price being the starting price for Xbox next gen.

?

He’s referring to Helix with the PC side.

Except Helix would be much more powerful than this.

I’d imagine so yes - I built a PC with twice the RAM, VRAM and cores with a 2TB SSD for just over the price of the 2TB model about 18 months ago, which shows either this isn’t particularly keenly priced unlike the Deck at launch, or how much the component price is screwing everything.

Given Sony have said they don’t intend to do sales on the new PS5 price to avoid selling too many as they’re now taking a loss on them, I’m really not seeing that PlayStation will take a huge loss on the PS6 even if they’ve designed it with cost in mind rather than performance - meaning if they come anytime soon I can’t see either it or Helix going for under $800 and that’d be lucky

Well yeah, that’s why it would cost as much as a 2TB(no controller) when it launches. That’s with Xbox subsidizing it at least 200 usd, as ordering large numbers of them should give Xbox a better price on components than Valve.

This is even worse than the worse case scenario I had in mind.

Me too, at the time I expected $899 at most I think :sob: it probably speaks for the speed at which things got worse

Yeah, I expected 800-900 but prices went up this year. I’m scared for next-gen…

1000+$ and 512GB of space… I guess you can hook up an additional SSD, but still.

I have to give it to them though, it looks really nice, and the customization that can be done on it is something that needs to be copied by MS.

I guess if you want something that is plug and play and that isn’t a console, it’s definitely worth looking at. If MS could copy the model close enough with Helix they might have a market for it.

it’s funny because for me, what I like most about PC gaming, is being able to use my secondary or tertiary display to put a web page, discord, or even a movie or tv show while I’m gaming and being able to multitask. So I prefer being in desktop mode over a full on controller mode.

In entirely unsurprising news, my PC is faster on all fronts, as I understand it, for not much more.

Edit: I should add, re plug and play. You plug in 4 things to a PC, load it up, install your OS (which is piss easy) and… done. That’s it.

I guess if you don’t try to play MultiPlayer games or games it doesn’t support natively. There are some “guides” on how to get some games to work, where I bailed at Step 2 and had another 17 steps to go. Several steps directed you to a 40+ step guide elsewhere. I’m no stranger to running Linux servers or adjusting kernels and doing custom compiles for expanding support. But these guides were just ridiculous.
