What are you currently playing?

Still playing Black Flag. Trying to wrap it up before Thursday as I will be starting Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. I did buy several games over the last week including a few pre-orders.

Xbox Series X (all digital) -

  1. Mafia: The Old Country / Man of Honor (expansion)
  2. Mortal Shell 2 (base edition)
  3. Onimusha: Way of the Sword (base edition)
  4. Star Wars: Zero Company (base edition)
  5. The Sinking City 2 (premium deluxe edition)
  6. The Blood of Dawnwalker (base edition)

PlayStation 5 Pro (both digital) -

  1. Ghost of Yotei: Echoes of Sekigahara (expansion)
  2. Marvel’s Wolverine (deluxe edition)

NOTES -

  1. Will be starting Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy this Thursday via Game Pass Ultimate. Once completed, I will finally start Beast of Reincarnation (was waiting for a few patches) and hope to have both of these games completed by the time Wolverine releases which will be played on release as I have three days requested off from work so I can start the game instead of waiting until the weekend.
  2. After Wolverine, I hope to start and complete Onimusha: Way of the Sword. I’m going with the “smaller/shorter” games so I can knock out a few of them.
  3. While I haven’t pre-ordered the Premium Edition Upgrade yet for it, I will be playing Gears of War: E-Day on it’s Early Access release (hoping everything works unlike during Halo: Campaign Evolved early access launch) as I will be on vacation that week.
  4. October 8th is currently scheduled to be the big new update for Arc Raiders so I want to complete a few games before then.
  5. Have no idea when I will be playing the other games listed above but I did play Mortal Shell 2 for 6+ hours. I’m NOT a souls guy at all (have only completed two of them ever) but holy shit!!! This game is freaking great!! While there’s no actually difficulty levels, there’s an item in the game after the prologue that you can acquire in your home base which not only makes you stronger but also, can regenerate health and resolve when you perform a finisher on a stunned/broken enemy. A patch just released the other day which buffs player aspects while also nerfing some of the enemy aspects. But in general, this game is freaking great and while I will be starting fresh (I really just wanted to test out the Slayer Seal and the game itself so I was kinda messing around as opposed to playing for real), im tempted to start this game for real instead of sticking with my planned gaming schedule but if I do, my backlog will continue to grow and im trying to minimize that issue. lol

In general, Arc Raiders has done something that hasn’t been done in about 20 years, make me addicted to wanting to keep playing the game even when there’s no new content or valid reason to do so. This has set me back with a few games this year already and seeing as how it’s a live service game, when new content gets releases, it takes priority over everything else because I don’t want to fall behind.

So many great games :joy: and not enough time :sob: .

Everyone is off playing a lot of games and I’m just stuck in Cyberpunk 2077 at the moment.

Doing a 3rd playthrough as netrunner, with a 4th playthrough already started where I will pretend to be Johnny Bravo.

I’m already too far gone, I have playthrough number 5 planned out as being a melee build(gorilla arms). But hey maybe I lose interest by then, but I feel like part of me is just laughing at the thought.

After 120hs of death stranding I don’t know if Im done or should go fpr 100%. Time missions have been a pain and maybe I should call it a day. Pretty good game tho, hope at some point 2 comes to Xbox. In parallel, just started Avowed and first impression were very good, game looks good and gameplay is fun.

Completed Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy yesterday. Normal difficulty. Took me approximately 15 hours.

  • Visuals - 9.0/10 (excellent)
  • Audio - 9.0/10 (excellent)
  • Gameplay/Combat - 7.0/10 (good)
  • Story/Characters - 9.0/10 (excellent)
  • Overall - 8.5/10 (great)

Visually, Resonance looks excellent from the environments to the character models. Audio wise, voice acting is excellent from all the main characters and the music is great. Sound effects are also really good. Story and characters are excellent for the most part. I really enjoyed the story and characters much more than I did the gameplay. Speaking of the gameplay and combat, the combat itself was really good when fighting enemies but I wasn’t a huge fan of the other gameplay elements. First, I wasn’t a fan of having to find Resonance point to unlock and upgrade skills. Second, while some of the puzzles are really good, I won’t lie, I youtubed a few of them because I was just getting bored as there’s a few parts where you run into puzzles in succession. Third and most of all, I absolutely hated the “stealth/avoid/hide and seek” segments. Freaking hated them with a passion. Back to combat for a second, I wish there was a lock on target system because at times, the camera was bad and having this option would have eliminated this issue or at the very least, lessened it. Overall though, a great game. I enjoyed it for the most part and playing it via Game Pass Ultimate, it was an easy decision.

Next up starting tomorrow will be Beast of Reincarnation as it’s been patched a few times and the major issues at launch seem to have already been fixed.

I am still playing Mina The Hollower, currently at the last level/dungeon of the game which is expertly designed and hard AF. Amazing achievement of a game considering the limitations of the 8bit style and how they designed everything so beautifully around those limitations. Can’t wait to see the final boss!

Also playing Samurai Shodown 2019 the last few days with a good friend, love this game’s simple by today’s standards mechanics/moveset yet very strategic gameplay with strong focus on positioning…it feels like every move you make is very important due to the massive damage even the basic moves are doing. Plays amazingly well at 120HZ on Series X too plus the online play/netcode is very very good.

Checked out Resonance: APTS too quickly last night because it will be the next game I will be playing and holy shit…does this game look and run excellent on unlocked performance mode on Series X or what? IQ is very good and the game runs so smooth. Asobo is such a great team!

Started Beast of Reincarnation yesterday and after 6+ hours, will either wait for them to patch up the game a lot more because it needs it or may just drop the game entirely. Thankfully, due to being on Game Pass Ultimate, it’s only cost me a little bit of my time. Reason why is the story/characters/pacing/lack of character animations and facial expressions. Like, seriously…it’s bad and even worse, so disappointing because I was really looking forward to this game. I also don’t like how the skill tree/upgrading works. You have to upgrade your character attributes in order to unlock actual skills. Not a fan of that at all.

Anyway, since I will be working a lot this week and next, I will just be playing Arc Raiders instead of jumping into anything. I will be off from the 12th through the 17th so I will hope to get through The Sinking City 2 in 3 days and then Marvel’s Wolverine also in 3 days. Will then go from there.

Been playing Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires. I love this game, there are several different scenarios with tonnes of different characters (you can even make your own) you can use so each campaign doesn’t play the same way. In the Yellow Turban Rebellion I played as Liu Bei, and now I’m playing the Dong Zhou campaign as Cao Cao (I prefer Cao Cao). I’m yet to create my own warrior and make a vagabond unit, or ally myself to a ruler.

I find the gameplay of managing a kingdom very compelling. You can make alliances, recruit and scout officers, hold banquets to improve officer morale, donate to regions to increase their happiness, build facilities like blacksmiths and academies etc etc. My Cao Cao married Diaochan and has had 1 kid so far. I wonder if they will ever make a Hyrule Warriors Empires, and speaking of which, the Switch 2 went up in price in my country today - I still want to play Age of Imprisonment.

The other game I’m playing is Tekken 8. Steve is my main but I’m looking to branch out to a character that has kicks as well. I like the look of Reina, Lili, Kunimitsu and Anna. I play ranked and I’m not very good but I enjoy it a lot. I was playing Dead or Alive 6 Last Round ranked but I think it’s dead online. I could only find 1 match on a Saturday night.

Playing through The Holloway Manor DLC for The Sinking City 2 before jumping into the base game as completing this gives you a weapon to take into the base game. Played for about two hours. The atmosphere is great as are the visuals and audio. Wish the combat was better though. It just doesn’t feel good and even on easy difficulty, enemies are bullet sponges if you don’t hit their weak spot. With that said, still pretty good and hope to have this DLC wrapped up before going to work tomorrow. And will then start the base game on Sunday.

Still playing Resonance and had to watch a walk through on YouTube on how to get passed this puzzle at the end of chapter 4. Feeling no shame as that puzzle made NO fucking sense. Just happy to be able to continue on with what’s otherwise a phenomenal experience

I thought the puzzles were quite easy… and I’m so bad at puzzles :skull:

The game is incredible in a year of incredible games. I loved the scale of the environments, which felt like this tiny island was this weird anomaly in a mostly grounded world.

I wish it wasn’t using the Plague Tale licence though, like it has nothing to do with that world except the character.

I am waiting for a patch because I’ve read that the SX has some issues with audio, did you encounter any problems?

While I was waiting for Resonance to get patched I replayed Cronos: TND to unlock one of the two remaining achievements to 1000G it, I left the last one for when the DLC hits. One of the best horror games ever made IMO.

Also finished Mina the Hollower which was such an excellent game, currently my favorite title this year along with TDA Revelations. Played some Terminator 2D: NF as well the last few days and it’s great fun so far, if you are a fan of Terminator 2 you have to check out this game just to see how they adapted the visuals and the set-pieces of the movie to a 2D with (awesome) pixel art action game.

I finished Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires three times so now I’m about to start either Dynasty Warriors 9 or Attack on Titan 2. I’m leaning towards DW9

I think that you will enjoy the game, I too am excited for the expansion.

Also started Resonance last night and the audio problems seem to be present only at unlocked performance mode, when I switched to the quality (40fps for me) mode all the issues stopped. Haven’t checked 60fps/hz performance mode though so I will try this tonight and see how it goes. Played almost 2hrs yesterday and the game is a lot of fun, looks gorgeous and the music is excellent too. Can’t wait to play more tonight!

Yeah, I should. I know it’s closer to Dead Space than Resident Evil which is fine by me because I prefer the Dead Space Remake over REmake3/4 and RE 7/8.

As for Resonance, I completed it in 15 hours over two days on normal difficulty. Let me know how you liked it once you complete it.
