What was your honest opinion of the Xbox games showcase?

The biggest complaint was “games”, they showed 22 of them. I thought it was good, more gameplay would’ve been nice, but it’s nice to know games are in the pipeline. I’m hyped for Forza’s reboot.

7.5/10 for me.

Nice Show with Good Production value. I have Game Pass Ultimate til 2023 so I appreciate all The games that were shown. But most new games were just CGI and far far away. So they got me not hyped.

For existent GP users everything was fine. But if you are not within Xbox ecosystem the Show might be to weak.

I enjoyed the show overall and it got me excited for the future of Xbox but the thing I couldn’t help but take away from it is that the Series X only seems to be releasing with just two Xbox exclusives Haloand The Medium, everything else shown seems to either be releasing beforehand on the One X or is coming in 21/22.

State of Decay 3 was a massive suprise that got me hyped as a big fan of that franchise I’m excited to see what undead labs can deliver with the Series X.

I was sad to see that Forza won’t be a launch title as I’m so excited for that.

Fable under Playground Games is a match made in heaven and I’m super excited for it.

Avowed sounds like it’s going to be pure Obsidian and that’s a great thing!

Infinite was amazing as expected and I loved every minute of gameplay, I’m so pumped for a new Halo title. Being one of the few that thinks 343i have actually done a really good job since taking on the franchise I have always had faith this would deliver.

Wish there was more gameplay, but it wasn’t bad.

It wasn’t bad at all but i was finding myself getting bored for large parts of it. It didn’t feel as big as Microsoft promoted it to be. My favourite announcement was that Dragon Quest is coming to game pass.

Love the IGN-type rating scale lol

I’ve been torn on the presentation. They had some great announcements but nothing unexpected because what was shown was either already announced or leaked to hell and back. Using Fable, one of the industries worst kept secrets as your closing announcement was rather anti-climatic IMO.

What makes matters worse is that outside of Halo, nothing was truly shown. Aaron Greenberg said they will take the feedback and learn from their disappointing Inside Xbox show. One of the biggest criticisms with the May showing was the lack of gameplay.

They hyped up the Xbox Series X showcase but didn’t actually showcase anything on the Series X. Halo was on a PC and disappointed many. It’s safe to say just about any hint of real time rendering was done on a PC and the rest were CGI trailers that told us nothing. They might as well followed Nintendo’s lead and showed the title of the game and nothing more.

They purchased all of these studios over the last 2+ years, talked about having the best 1st party organization in the industry, did an amazing job communicating about the series X with confidence earlier in the year, but lately they have been losing that focus. Instead of having a proper Series X showcase where they could have said “Everything in real time is running on a Series X” we get some gameplay, some real time clips, and a lot of CGI for what actually turned out to be an hour long Game Pass commercial, not a Series X event. To make matters worse, their Game Pass claim turned out to be a lie but they don’t care to clarify on it.

I love Xbox just like I love so many other companies in this industry and I just want them to do better.

Plenty of interesting games shown, but too many CGI trailers for my taste. Honestly, the best part of the show was that everything they showed is coming to Game Pass. As a next gen showcase, I’d give it a 7/10. As a Game Pass advertisement though, I’d give it a 9 or 10.

Ultimately I was left feeling pretty good about getting a Series X as my primary next gen console. Between the new studios’ games and Game Pass, backwards compatibility with the library I’ve already built, and xCloud, they’ve built a nice ecosystem.

I was a little let down with Halo, not because of the graphics issue (it’s fine to me), but after all this silence I was hoping to see some multiplayer action or some details. Back when Halo 5 was in development, we had a nice multiplayer beta and I loved getting to play the game and that’s not the case this time around.

I personally enjoy CGI trailers. They do a great job in hyping up an upcoming game, but gameplay trailers are very important as well. I wish they would’ve included some more gameplay stuff instead of a lot of CGI. While I’m fine with CGI, a lot of people prefer the gameplay trailers.

It was more than I could have hoped for. Hell of a show to put on while WFH during a global pandemic.

Imo missed the mark. Awful for me personally.

I wanted to see at least two games with gameplay visually on the level of HB2, and UE5 demo.

But it’s not important at all as a barometer of the future of Xbox.

UE5 demo is smoke and mirrors, HB2 is years off. I don’t want to see gameplay until a game is less than 6 months away, I’m so sick of faked vertical slices.

If you didn’t see the show and saw the list of games shown written down, with the developers next to them and a little synopsis of what the game’s about, it would be an insane list. So many great and unique games. The downside of staying up-to-date with Xbox this much is that we kinda knew about everything, including the final Fable “surprise”, and of course the fact there was not a lot of gameplay.

However, gameplay is far less necessary for me now than it’s been. Normally I’d watch a lot of gameplay videos and impressions a game before deciding to part with 60-70 Euros for it, but right now I don’t need to because everything I’ve seen will be on Game Pass. I’m excited about Fable, The Medium and the others, and as such I don’t necessarily need to see more. When it’s out, I’ll play it day one.

I think I had realistic expectations going in, which made me like it very much.

Look, we had a lot of studio acquisitions the last couple of years, many of which will do AAA productions. And we know that this takes time. To me it was out of the question that someone suddenly comes out showing gameplay “out tomorrow”. As an Xbox fan the show assured me that all those studios are hard at work, and have interesting things in the pipeline.

Meanwhile, I still have enough small gems on GamePass to discover and 3p games like Cyberpunk to tide me over until those 1p projects are fully cooked. No worries whatsoever on my part.

It really was a good show it’s just none of it was much of a surpise as many here have said. It was better than Sony’s show for me personally but not by much. Spiderman being exclusive to Playstation is one of the biggest flexes in gaming though. Microsoft must be chomping at the bit for an exclusive of that caliber.

Voted “CGI fest”.

I totally get why they had to do it, but in terms of games/franchises themselves, SoD 3, Fable and Avowed were by far my most anticipated “reveals” (beside FM), so getting nothing but CGI was a bit frustrating.

The rest was good imo (even Halo, yes) but not nearly as surprising as I thought it would be. Not a fan of ratings, but if I had to, I’d give it a good 6/10.

I voted 8. Coming out of the show, I was more a 7 because I couldn’t get the lingering aftertaste of the Halo graphics out of my mouth or the lack of next gen in game footage. As a show, maybe its still more of a 7. As a sign of what’s to come…the road map, the content, the value, it’s a 9.

I think there’s a good chance that 3 years from now, we could look back and say that show had the best announcements of any show Microsoft has ever put together once Halo is continuing to get ongoing support, Destiny is continuing to get ongoing Game Pass support while Avowed, Fable, Everwild, Stalker 2 and State of Decay 3 all are released.

So great potential. Great showcase of content for Game Pass. Not the best showcase for a new console.

Dragon Quest finally coming to Xbox platforms made me yell like a mf. It was the announcement of the show. It was great.

Can you please explain what you mean by their Game Pass claim being a lie? Thanks.

They said all the games shown in the showcase was either F2P or included in GamePass day one. However the campaign for Crossfire X, which was featured in the showcase is neither free or in GamePass. It can be seen in the small print shown in the trailer shown during the showcase.

I’m sure they justify it by saying the MP mode is F2P and that’s what they meant but that’s not what was shown and is another sign of their lack of clear communication.

I kind of figured it was the Crossfire X campaign. I agree completely though. With that said, im disappointed that the campaign isn’t in Game Pass but im willing to buy it as long as it doesn’t go past $20. If it does, I’ll wait for a sale or if/when it does eventually go into Game Pass.

In general, the amount of games going into Game Pass day one is insane. Excluding the first party titles, I have The Medium, The Gunk, Warhammer 40000: Darktide and Stalker 2 as games I will try out thanks to Game Pass. Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t even bother.
