Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

Anime is more of a medium with its own distribution infrastructure than a genre like horror. That infrastructure is what sony has a monopoly on

Played the Babylon’s Fall demo… Good lord they must know this is a stinker, that’s why they’re opening themselves up to acquisitions now.

I appreciate you doing this everyday. Glad to know there are a few of us hyped for the potential of Platinum!

Probably won’t happen even if the Ukraine situation wasn’t a factor. MS wants strong studio heads when acquiring talented developers. Unfortunately for GSC, they have suffered from the hands of Segiy Grygorovych who I have read is a terrible human being. That’s why 4A games and the Metro franchise exist. Another would be Techland, a lot of people in here want them. But Techland has a Chris Roberts problem (StarCitizen), with Paweł Marchewka.

Shudder

I wonder if there is any reason for MS to buy dead companies, for example Atari or Interplay?

The reason why l say this is because if you buy Atari you’d get the Roller Coaster Tycoon series and with Interplay you could revive Black Isle Studios, maybe have them remake Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura or work on Arcanum 2, too.

Doesn’t Microsoft own the heads of Black Isle and Interplay anyway? I think they also will have Arcanum due to Activision no?

That is why l brought that up. Buying Interplay has to be cheap, seeing as you’d just be buying the name for Black Isle.

There’s no need to? The people that were behind the Interplay/Black Isle name (the talent, leadership) are all at Obsidian and InXile… there would be absolutely no point.

It’s incredible how this game looks so amazing after almost 10 Years. Pretty sure Criytek (or Crytek) could add a lot of value to Xbox family.

I like you. But seriously, I’ve been preaching about the impact Crytek could have on the XGS organization; they’re still loaded with some incredibly talented developers, have some great IP, and their engine can be a versatile powerhouse (it’s just short of the necessary budgets and optimization).

Interplay doesn’t have any important franchises left, and correspondingly it’s market value is very low. Last time I checked it has a market cap of 1 or 2 million dollars. I’m not even sure it’s still traded or if it left the exchanges last year.

They still sell some games and published the Dark Alliance re releases. They do some retro pc stuff on steam (stuff like redneck rampage, descent and earthworm Jim). I think it would be cute to buy them and fold them under Inxile, as a poetic end to that saga. The price is going to be super low lol.

Atari would be interesting (and super cheap), they also hold alot of nostalgia and older IP in the gaming industry.

Not sure I see the value in Black Isle though.

Your completely right, yet it still would be cool to see if the rumors about MS making a studio for remakes was called Black Isle and see their first game being to remake Fallout 1 & 2, plus have the old name of those games too.

But you again are right, there isn’t any reason to own the rights to Black Isle, when you have the more important people behind those games instead.

Why not to create a studio? JRPG Studio :eyes: I would love to create JRPG games haha

Why not buy one tho?
