Buy one what? A studio? Yeah no I don’t know about business, but I think I would make Indie JRPG game.
Yeah a JRPG studio. I’d love them to build up in Japan with some known studios and give them more funding and tech and support.

The more I think about it now, Xbox could potentially do something amazing with retro games.
In addition to Atari there is AtGames, Taito (Square Enix), Hudson Soft (Konami), SNK, Coleco and of course SEGA.
ABK is also one of the oldest publishers in the business.
Imagine if Xbox had its own little retro games area (similar to the Switch NES/SNES service), it could be fantastic IMO.

There is a lot of potential with giving old classic games a refresh.
Take as an example with what Namco did with Pac-Man and how the new speed run game has become very famous. So you could do stuff like that with games like Centipede or like you brought up Hudson Soft games from Konami for a new Bomberman.

I loved Sekiro, but the amount of just… everything in Elden Ring literally reminds me of Skyrim. It’s insane.

I am not a souls fan but I’ve got say from what I’ve seen of those games and Japanese games in general the amount of creativeness at display is insane. Never would I ever dream up the design of some of those boses.

If MS ever has a shot at buying From Software from Kadokawa they need to pay whatever the cost.

Presumably kadokawa would shop around if they wanted to sell, but Fromsoft would be one of the very few studios that would be worth paying way more for than necessary. Beat whatever other offer another company proposes.

If KADOKAWA ever sells fromsoftware I am certain most major players will jump into that and try and get them

MS could outbid them all with ease lol. From Software is too valuable to let go imo. Microsoft could just hand Kadokawa 10 years worth of FS profits in a day which I’m sure they’d accept. They have no grand plans for FS, they don’t even publish their games and allow Namco to own all their IPs. I would estimate under $1 billion maybe even $800 million.
embracer outbidded MS for gearbox, just cos they can doesn’t mean they will and the gearbox acquisition cost over a billion dollars
According to the rumors MS wanted gearbox without randy, and since randy owned 100% of the company that wasnt happening. so that is why they did not outbid embracer for them.

That’s true but Gearbox just like Bungie weren’t worth it for MS. My point is if MS truly wanted From Software they would get them and I think they should be serious about getting them.
They have a good relationship anyways, From has made a ton of Xbox exclusives throughout their history and have revealed most of their games in recent history on the Xbox E3 stage. Microsoft should view them as a crucial studio especially after the reception of Elden Ring, it should hopefully reinforce it.

my point was more that MS won’t pay much more than their view of their seen worth in a company/studio otherwise they would of picked up gearbox
It’s one of those situations where, because they have the dough, folks would completely meltdown if MS refused to super overpay for From, “I don’t care if they needed to pay 5 times what they’re worth, MS should have make it happen, Xbox is doomed”
