You mean actual Game Pass, not only Xcloud streaming? This will help GP subs for sure, but it will help Xbox as a console exactly zero. We’ll see how it all pans out I guess.
Consoles arent going away anytime soon
Those plans are already there. We saw reports about that last year. With Xbox console, PC, Mobile and TV they reach a huge audience and in my opinion should be more than enough. Let Nintendo do their thing and keep it at that. But I’m not that shocked, after all, Phil said it was up to Nintendo and Sony. Although it was unclear if he meant only streaming or also actual Game Pass on the platforms.
Oh, was just curious if you thought there was some reason that MS should not stream to TV.
Thank you!! We already know they don’t make much if any money off of console sales. All of these people that are actually pushing for Gamepass to be on Switch and PS5 are literally incentivising Microsoft to drop consoles altogether and just become a publisher with streaming and gamepass pretty much future Sega. I want the focus to be on Xbox first Xcloud second, until the market is fully ready to become hardware-less then Playstation and Nintendo will be trying to do the same thing… Why rush it? It will happen in the future let’s not try to make it happen within this generation. In that future Nintendo and Playstation are going to either partner with Xbox or be bought out by Amazon, Google, or God forbid Disney. They will need Xbox for the streaming future more than Xbox will need them. Let them come to Xbox not the other way around. If Xbox has to beg to put Gamepass on their consoles for nothing in return then Xbox might as well be Sega.
Absurd is this “If you are a gamepass ultimate subscriber you can use it on every device except those 2”. Like what?
So you want Xbox to prevent me from just opening PS5s (or Switches if Nintendo finally arrives in modern times) browser and starting xCloud? Why? This doesn’t make any sense.
Bruh I’m dead this the same shit from last night
You rush it because there is first mover advantage. MS should be making every move to become dominant in the streaming space because it is the future and that is how you remain ahead.
MS needs to upgrade the blades to XSX yesterday, they needed to have PC support yesterday, they needed iOS support 6 months ago. Their investments (which benefit Xbox directly) are based on prospective clpud growth. They can’t takr their foot off of the pedal there.
It is the same from 6 months ago, probably 9 months ago too lol. It is a recurring argument.
Agreed! It’s moving too fast and I just hope Phil/Xbox isn’t getting overly ambitious now. They are doing so damn well right now. Amazing consoles, immense improvement for XGS, the Bethesda acquisition is still one hell of a thing, but maybe slow down with this thing here.
But we can complain what we want, there already seems to be a deal of some sort in place and we’ll learn in the fall about it. I am betting on only Xcloud because what use is Game Pass really for a switch? I cannot see a TES VI running on dinosaur hardware (especially even more so around the time of release) myself. And no way in hell are these devs going to take Switch into account when making games.
If anything happens it would have to be streaming. Native games would not be an option and people would be rightfully upset at that move.
Still agree that xcloud is not coming to the switch the only people who I’ve defended this is @pg2g and @CallMeCraig. Pretty sure the Nintendo and Xbox deal could be what someone said about Nintendo going to Microsoft azure servers or something idk
Exactly! It honestly would be disastrous if Xbox devs started having to keep Switch or whatever next hardware they got coming in mind. It’s not their fault Nintendo just refuses to get with the times in terms of powerful hardware. That’s not something we should be worried about, that would be the biggest foolish decision freaking ever.
Oh wait, I think you and me mean different things. People would be upset because Switch gets native Xbox games or the idea that games could get watered down to be able to run on there? ![]()
I would be upset by both TBH. I think you come to xbox if you want a native experience.
Us two and a good chunk of the folks that woke up and read the thread lol.
Again, im not saying its happening. I just think its a good business move.
Yes non streaming,
So you think MS is going to make all first party games compatible with the Switch?
Xbox Game Pass Originals (1st party only) + xCloud $9.99/month coming to Switch, is my prediction. Give Nintendo a cut of each sub, Nintendo gets some more mature big AAA games and Microsoft gets access to like 80m portable gaming devices that can access Azure.
Not only this but MS could get in and cover all of Nintendos backend with Azure and help them with their online stuff, getting even more gaming companies onto Azure.
my 2c and also for those that think Xbox has to get something in return like games or something, not everything works like that. Xbox is getting a big deal by getting access to more users not every deal has to give us Xbox gamers something in return.
I also think this new Game Pass plan will come to Steam.

So when Netflix wanted to become the dominant streaming service they put all of their original content on Cable TV, Amazon, and Hulu? They are going to release Stranger things, Cobra Kai and everything else on Disney + to become the market leader? You grow your service by offering something consumers can only get there. You want Nintendo and Playstation users to buy into gamepass bring Playstation and Nintendo type games to ther service. You don’t offer everything you have to them. Why is Stadia failing? It actually performs better than Xcloud from what I have seen and can be played pretty much on every thing connected to the internet, yet it is failing why? Because they don’t have games you can’t get anywhere else, they have no first party studios, no original content, and its out of the way to develop or port games to their platform. Content grows the service. If Nintendo users and Playstation users wanted to play what Xbox is offering they would already have an Xbox or be subscribed. Most aren’t though I can bet becasue you hear it all the time they don’t like what Xbox is offering even if you made it available for streaming it won’t be much growth on switch or Playstation. You want those users subscribed? Force Nintendo and Playstation to work with you, whether it’s because they need to or, through mutually beneficial partnerships. Bring all those games to gamepass then watch the userbase grow by 100s of millions because now you have the content. If they don’t want to play ball oh well too bad. In the future they will have to either partner with Xbox or be acquired by Google and Amazon or even Disney. Like I said in the long term they need us not the other way around. In the short term it might seem like Xbox needs their user base, but it is miniscule compared to the streaming base that will be the future. Xbox just needs to focus on making great games and bringing more studios and services under their umbrella the user base will grow because of that. This is all a moot point as most likely Sony will not want to, and the switch in it’s current state wouldn’t be that great at it. The switch Pro may be a much better option if they can include 5g as well as better Wifi.
