Xbox and Nintendo partnership news coming fall 2021

Wake me up when is not a one way street

This isn’t a fair comparison, Google has 0 mindshare in the gaming ecosystem space at most they just have youtube content. They haven’t made a single game and don’t know how to so IMO they were always going to fail. You can’t compare xCloud to Stadia, it’s apples to oranges.

You said focus on Xbox first and Xcloud second and not to rush things. I responded with why they should not slow down their cloud push.

If Xbox games go to Switch via streaming only how does that effect you in anyway, it’s not a one way street for Microsoft and Xbox. It’s only a one way street if you care about console wars imo, it’s just as bad as when people lost their shit when Xbox games went to PC.

Xbox fans aren’t suddenly going to sell their console to buy a Switch to play Xbox games, Nintendo fans probably aren’t looking at buying a Xbox either. A Nintendo fan is completely different to a Xbox fan.

That because pc doesn’t have Nintendo games. Nintendo will have both Xbox and Nintendo games

So what? are people going to lose their shit when Xbox games go to Samsung TVs? why do people only care about if it goes to Nintendo. Why aren’t people mad that Xbox games are going to iOS and Android but Android and iOS games aren’t coming to Xbox. You could say the same thing with PC, most popular PC games aren’t on Xbox yet Xbox has games on PC.

It’s why it seems like console wars to me, we only care if its on X and Y platforms but Z and C is ok.

Nah man. Good luck getting games like Gears 5, Halo Infinite, Starfield, Fable, Avowed, Hellblade 2 etc to run on Dinosaur hardware. Sure, there will probably be Switch Pro, so more or less a PS4 probably, still not good enough. So will Nintendo arrange devs to port these games over so they can run on it? Cause i doubt XGS devs will want to make versions for Xbox Series hardware AND Switch.

Especially in times like these with covid, and the end of that isn’t exactly in sight. So making these games available natively for Switch would only be more work, much more and no way in hell will devs gimp XSX&XSS versions, hell no.

Oh we partying in here now?

It sounds like we have some fundamental disagreements that make this a discussion hard to have.

  1. Who is the consumer of Xbox? Is it xbox owners and PC owners? Is it Xbox/PC/iOS/Android/TV owners?

IMO, last gen it was the former. This gen it is the later. I’d argue that the latter list includes effectively all Switch and PS5 users by virtue of the fact that they have smart phones and TVs.

  1. What is the impact of allowing streaming on a competitors device?

Because of my thoughts on question 1, id argue that they are all potential customers of Xbox already and if they wanted to stream Xbox games they could do it with one of their existing devices. Some people may not buy an Xbox because they are fine with streaming, I don’t think that is an issue. Giving people addition device options would not have a negative affect on the platform.

Because TVs don’t have ā€œgamesā€ on them. iOS and android have ā€œmobile gamesā€ and not bigger games you would play on pc/Xbox/ps/or Nintendo. For me it would just look a peeling to Nintendo more then Xbox themselves

Taken from the community thread:

I don’t like it, but I’ll allow it if xCloud on Switch is what’s being teased. Just for the simple fact that having xCloud on Switch would probably open up to more subs for GamePass which would in turn, being in Japan mean more JRPGS on Xbox just because of GamePass and xCloud.

So if having to deal with dumb Twitter bullshit because xCloud is on Switch means that I can actually get Kingdom Hearts 4 on GamePass Day 1 because Square Enix realizes that the amount of DLC they could sell vastly out numbers the amount of money Sony could give them to make the game a 1 - 2 year time exclusive, then fuck it, sign me up.

But don’t make me regret this.

There, happy?

This is a certified hood classic

I’m ignoring the… mob and going to say I think Xbox is going to see PokĆ©mon at some point.

Geshin Impact? there are games on there that you can play on consoles or PC, you can already play Xbox games on there using xCloud so that’s ok?

I’m sorry but getting access to like 80m portable consoles for xCloud and Azure is NOT peeling to Nintendo. Sure you as a Xbox gamer might get upset you’re not ā€œgettingā€ anything out of it directly but this will make Xbox/MS a lot of money that they can pump into other things.

I don’t know why people can’t see past the whole they get something but we dont!! it’s not about us directly we’ve already gotten a lot. There are going to be deals like this in the future that doesn’t give Xbox gamers anything but help Xbox and MS financially.

There will be moves for Xbox gamers (Bethesda) and there will be moves for Xbox and MS as a company (Discord and getting xCloud on almost every device)

There’s no way I can disagree with this. The more Japanese support for Xbox, the better, it’s that simple. But yes, please just Xcloud. It’s not the end of the world.

Whenever people ask from now on…what does Xbox get? Nothing directly, except for what you said, the likelihood of more Japanese games. I’ll take it. But non streaming, I don’t see that happening. Unless Switch Pro is a XSX in terms of power, lol.
