Xbox at Tokyo Game Show 2022 | September 15

Just got caught up on the show, seems like it was very solid indeed

Was definitely hoping to hear about more XGP deals and projects so the wait continues

That being said, lots of good titles announced and Arc/Level-5 back on xbox is good to see, especially L5, their fallout seemed to be really bad by the sound of things

Square is really what’s ruining the party lol

I still wanna see NIS/Falcom and Gust some day, because my #1 want is JRPGs, but at least, unlike Square, they’ve never been on Xbox yet anyway, so they never “attended” the party in the first place.

After seeing what was announced, it sounds like it was a pretty good show. Hopefully having Fumijiko Yasuda and Masaaki Yamagiwa speak during the stream sends the message it’s intended to have. Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, Ni No Kuni 1 & 2, Persona 3-5, Blazblue, Guilty Gear, and Wo Long were the highlights for me. Glad we were able to see more gameplay of Wo Long and Eiyuden Chronicles.

You can tell Xbox is trying in Japan but this conference also shows how there’s a lot more work to go. Ports of older games isn’t bad, but I’m hoping in the future we see more high profile upcoming RPGs. Would also love to see Xbox publishing form more partnerships with studios and creators in Japan. Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon were big deals on the 360 for good reason. Would love to see more of that type of investment beyond Kojima, which is also huge in the west.

Good show overall, hopefully they get a translated version up soon so I can watch the whole thing.

Shit!!! Now im really pissed that I spent $40 on the PS5 digital version. Oh well.

Imagine how curious Square Enix is with what’s going on within Square Enix. lmao

Good show overall. While getting years old games on Xbox and Game Pass is nice and all, hopefully, Microsoft and Phil are using these relationships to build upon and ensure that future games from all these publishers/developers get released on Xbox day one. Even if it’s not day one, just get the games day one on Xbox as they can always go into Game Pass later on.

That’s what I really hope too. Let’s not have Octopath on Game Pass and then no Octopath 2 happen ever again. Next Arcsys game must launch on Xbox.

At first they blamed Square Enix West for all the problems, now they claimed that having developers is hard. Circus

I dont get it. And to be honest about it, they have pretty substantial net income. Their comments are not making sense to me.

Probably 2023, because I didn’t see a release date/year. You?

Their income is mainly coming from FF14 and FF14, basically it makes them money while they do not need to do much.

Seeing a Senran Kagura character on an Xbox stream is pretty funny. If Marvelous ever pulls Senran Kagura 7even out of development hell I’d like to see it on Xbox.

Yeah, this is freaking weird but it’s SE so I guess it makes sense for them. lol

You would think that SE would just put both games on both platforms and call it a day. Funny how Switch is the only console of the three to have both games. lmao

I agree completely. They have no clue. I miss the days of SquareSoft.

Sarah still lists Square as a partner or whatever.

Should be “what’s left of it” before Square.

I cannot imagine that this wasn’t Phil’s intent. Getting the older games over is step one, step two has to be getting these newer games day one too. It happened for Yakuza, that’s for sure. :sunglasses:

Not necessarily on Game Pass, Ishin Gaiden and 8 won’t be either, not day one. But that’s fine.

Maybe Sarah’s building bridges to them?

I’ve been saying for a while Microsoft could help potentially help FFXIV a lot even through partnerships.

It makes total sense to get stuff like Ni No Kuni for Game Pass. Game Pass is all about having that deep catalog, not just the new hotness this month.

Well, they had a couple of games.
