Xbox at Tokyo Game Show 2022 | September 15

So capcom caved in and made re4 ps4 version. Lol.

Yep! Builds up both the Game Pass catalog and the Xbox Store.

My question is, how did Japanese gamers react to this showcase? They were the primary audience for this anyway.

It’s just gonna keep happening with JP devs. PS5 isn’t where JP devs need it to be for domestic sales.

Excited for people who missed these older games on other platforms. Hopefully this can start to lead to these games coming out the same time in the future.

Yeah. It is so ironic that PS4 is holding back the next gen while everybody wanted to play Series S.

Xbox Series S holding back the glorious next gen just like everyone feared!!!

I personally don’t care for the Megaman Battle Network games but the new collection shown at Capcom just now is not coming to Xbox. This is when I start to understand Capcom less. Unless these games just don’t get played at all on Xbox.

This has full English subtitles

Didn’t saw a release date and no updates on their Twitter account.

You know, Xbox has a great strategy to leave old console behind with their xcloud system. PS doesn’t, so they must use more time and resources on PS4. Funny, couldn’t they do what Switch do at least.

One thing you can say: The TGS shows get noticeably better each year. 2020 was basically not worth watching. No news at all. Like starting at 0. Then 2021 came, they started putting Game Pass in the show. Scarlet Nexus and AI. Still, not much to see though.

Now we got a show that is getting decent (imo) - excellent reception. The bar has been raised from “1 or 2 GP additions” to “quite a few”. Some questionable things; like who in Japan cares about Deathloop, enough for it to end the show (I assume, they had no other content for the show, so they figured why not)? It didn’t like, blow my balls off… But it was -decent-.

So now, I will not be going into next year’s TGS show with 0 expectations. The bar has been raised. Let’s see next year, if the show noticeably improves again, or if we’ve hit the “standard”.

Well there aren’t any Square Enix games coming to Xbox after 2022, currently. All their 2023 games are currently set to skip Xbox.

That’s not to say they are done with Xbox after 2022, there will definitely be more games from them on Xbox, but still, it’s like they’re packing up and heading out the door lol

I guess NOT listing Square Enix as a partner would have been very bad and alarming looking. Discussions would have sparked for sure.

Yeah I don’t understand what’s going on with Square other than the stereotype “mercenary of the industry”.

Like we didn’t even get the Voice of Cards games, which couldn’t have been expensive enough for them to worry about ROI so much. Hell, not sure why they weren’t at least given a Game Pass deal for them.

I really hope things change on this front, but I trust Square less than ATLUS at this point.

Square Enix is 100% waiting for a paycheck from Microsoft. The way they run their company right now is literally - “how to get a quick cash grab” in everything. Microsoft is rich, so if we won’t release the game there - maybe they will pay for GP deal? If not, then whatever.

I am sure that they are willing to sell their company if there is a good enough offer.

I am not sure why you are not trusting Atlus by now though. With Sega firmly onboard with Microsoft and we getting all the recent Atlus output, I see no reason not to trust them. (Granted trust is a too strong word for a gaming company).

ATLUS is notorious for being one of the most inconsistent, head scratching companies in the industry.

Here’s a few examples:

Soul Hackers 1 being remastered only on 3DS, then the sequel being on everything but Switch.

Was surprised by how well Persona 4 Golden sold on PC. Proceeded to not port the game to consoles until 2023.

Didn’t port P4A Ultimax to Xbox, yet the game was never made BC either.

Releasing Persona 5 Strikers and P4AU on Switch without even having the prequels on said platform (or the previous platforms of that company).

Almost every monthly celebration for the Persona 25th Anniversary was a joke.

No one defends their decisions for a reason. Lmao

Well, it’s all is their past output. I think since the moment we got Soul Hackers 2 and Persona collection, the era has changed.

Who has it changed for though?

I’m not saying I don’t believe we’ll continue to get ATLUS games, I’m just saying I don’t expect us to get every one of them.

Yeah, I’ll just say, there was a period in like 2019-2021, when Square was bringing all the FF’s to Game Pass, KH Collections to Xbox, announcing DQ on Xbox, etc. And people were like “Wow it’s awesome Square Enix is on board now minus Sony moneyhats”

And then look where we are now.
