Yes, i was thinking the same thing. Maybe OXIDE joined to Xbox family. Xbox needs a proper RTS developer for PC and console (beside Blizzard). Relic Is in troubles. Ara seems fantastic: incredibile graphic Engine and detailed world. AOE franchise would be in good hands, imho.

I doubt they have, however they would be a relatively cheap studio to acquire (under 70 employees and no IP), so wouldn’t need to go through regulators.

They were both in GFN and BGS roadmap leaks

Sorry for being late to the discussion on this but I think Playground Games should work on expandalone games like arcade racing games that are primarily based on their Horizon games.

Leverage their existing work (engine, modeled assets) to the point where 90% of the work is done.

One opportunity is to license the SEGA Rally brand and create a “SEGA Rally: Mexico” game that makes a bunch of tracks out of what was available in FH5 and FH5 Rally Adventure. Make it an arcade game that has a presence in movie theaters and modern play centers. Release the game simultaneously on Game Pass. The arcade unit could even advertise “Play this at home or on your phone with Game Pass”. While arcades aren’t as popular now to justify the expense, it could be written off as advertising. Secondly you got an exclusive under your belt that isn’t available on any other machine.

Another opportunity is to license popular movie and TV IP for such an arcade game. The Fast and Furious standalone game using FH2 is a decent example of this but I think it should be arcadeified. Where people can race against each other, or a single player mode that features simple missions.

This idea of making arcade games to advertise Game Pass is something I would use to justify a Killer Instinct arcade cabinet.

Or the creation of new arcade projects like an 8 player Halo Spartan Assault arcade cabinet project. Which can be easily ported to console for Game Pass subscribers.

The event lab creations are so powerful that if put quality resources on it they can have an expandalone every 6 months just with event lab tools.

If under unfortunate circumstances FH6 is not coming 2024 then I hope a very small team within Playground pushes event lab creations to the moon and produce 2-3 expandalones By the next FH release.

“Praise? I don’t recall praising. Not sure what you guys are smoking.”

-Someone who praised to GOTY solely for being exclusive

Game Pass over the next 3 months is already looking good with Persona 3 Reload (Feb) Lightyear Frontier (Mar) Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (Apr)

That would be very nice. Let’s hope FF7R finally is a very real possibility now too, of those two games 7 is way better. 16 always looked a bit eh to me. But I’d still give that a chance though.

I don’t want to stick to other opinions, so if it does come to Xbox, I definitely give it a try.

Only disappointment is that we’re missing the quarterly release target. Hellblade 2 ain’t around the corner. Great lineup and Direct otherwise.

Have to agree, as good as everything looked hard to not be impatient for first quarter.

ABK stuff should hopefully alleviate that, but will have to wait and see on timings

If you ask a studio when they want to release a game… They are gonna say summer/Fall of whatever year since that gives the the most time to polish games, so thats where most releases will happen. Based from what they’ve shown I actually think all the first party games shown at the D_D could be released H1 if MS had a metaphorical gun pointed at their heads but they are doing what they believe is best for the games.

Yes, Event Labs is the way to go, rather than licensing another companies IP, as they already have the cars, designs. I’ve played several impressive creations through it and did a couple myself in homage of Outrun & Sega Rally (nothing special though).

I mean, many studios release their big guns in Q1, like this year Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Rebirth, or Elden Ring a couple of years ago, etc…imo it simply means something was internally delayed and I guess it was Towerborne, the game was already playable at Gamescom last year and it seemed the most imminent.

Big maybe, but this could release this in this quarter. Doubt it, but Xbox is a mystery.
