Xbox Game Studios |OT3| Once more....with feeling (Part 1)

Youngblood was Lyon. They’ve been working on this for 3 years since Mooncrash.

That is true. It could be an Outer Worlds type play of get people hooked and then make exclusive.

That said, I also see Starfield as exclusive because it’s a new IP and so early in the gen. Resetera and to a lesser extent here still views Sony as dominant but in reality, they’re both back to square one. OG Xbox was slaughtered by PS2 but 360 went head to head. PS3 went from a DOA flop to a worthy successor in its own right over 4 years. Nintendo went from their biggest gen ever to the Wii U selling a fifth of what the Xbox One did to the Switch decimating the charts. So it does also make sense to hold firm and incentivize early adoption.

I think what Sony does matters too. If their Game Pass competition is lets add an extra game to games with gold and stay the course with PSNow as an option, I don’t see MS bothered. If it’s lets moneyhat, put our games day one and get into bidding wars with MS for content to make PS Now the new Game Pass, then MS might be singing a very different tune.

In my opinion it would be a mistake to not keep Starfield to their ecosystem. Why “give away” your big guns at all? They want as many as people as possible on GP. Have the PS players temporarily subscribe to GP for something like Starfield and that planned “month to finish the game” turns into “oh shit, while I have GP now, let me try Gears 5” or some other games on there and before you know it these people have decided to to subscribe one more month or longer to it. That way they’ll reel em in.

It seems Xbox already might not have all that much this year, except Halo as the real exclusive. But if Starfield is planned for this year they’d be nuts to lock that in their ecosystem.

Off with the old, and into a new Era. It’s the way.

Starfield has the potential to bring multiple millions of people into Game Pass, many of which will fall in love and stay. I don’t see microsoft squandering that.

Yeah, I don’t know how an exclusive Starfield doesn’t bring 5 million people to Game Pass at a minimum.

Don’t do it make these man children sony ponies rage

I’m starting to think maybe MS likes this “will it or won’t it” be exclusive, it’s got people talking about Xbox when otherwise they wouldn’t even speak of Xbox. I can see them holding out on talking about it till their E3 like event. Can you imagine people continuing to ask if the games are going to be exclusive or not, it might get people to tune in who wouldn’t otherwise to find out.

They could start the showcase with EXCLUSIVE and then show Starfield with a big gameplay demo. That would be a massive statement and most likely start to take Xbox seriously.

That’s exactly what’s happening, its taking a life on its own and is great PR. When Xbox announces all games will be exclusive, it will be a massive moment of celebration and fanboys raging.

I can see them continue the “case by case basis” line as it’s true and it will keep people saying oh will this be exclusive or won’t it. But at some point they will cut it and announce all games are exclusive once they got most of the will it or won’t it hype lol. I can see people quickly getting angry of not know though so it’ll be a tight line to walk.

For me it’s obvious everything will be exclusive. Phil and his team have dreamt of having these studios as exclusive for years. Now he has
