Acquisition of IP hmmmmm.

I hope Xbox buys the Lucasarts Original IPs from Disney for Double Fine. They don’t have to use them, but being able to merchandise, reference, remake and revisit without going through Disney every time would probably be a relief for Double Fine.

I think Eidios is a great shout. Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Legacy of Kain etc

EA has some good ones like Dead Space too. I think buying some dead but loved IP is not a bad call. They need to use them though, it is only recently that Rare IP is being used to its full potential again.

has frequently talked about KOTOR III as being one of his and the Xbox gamers most requested games. If the team at Xbox really want to take us back to the OG Xbox days, KOTOR is one of the most well known Xbox games. Now, what would be a non-household name? Ninja Theory? There are only TWO studios I can think of that are not household names in XGS library, IF XGS is making the Kotor Revival:

Those were the two studios during the acquisitions that made people go…

My money would be on inXile with it’s long history of Wasteland, Fallout 1 & 2, Bard’s Tale… Or for all we know it’s being made by Spiders or Cyanide Studios lol

Dormant IP aren’t up for grabs I think. Today’s dead franchise can be one of the next decade’s biggest nostalgic revivals. And licensing revenue is nothing to scoff at, either. Konami is making bank off of the Castlevania anime and themed pachinko machines for example.

I don’t know why MS needs to acquire IP for Game Pass. Unless that includes the talent required to put the IP to use lol

When they say aquire IP, i imagine they mean acquire studios with well known franchises attatched to them instead of smaller studios with some lesser known games

What first party games are they giving to other platforms? I mean they had to honor games like Deathloop and Ghostwire, and The Outer Worlds was out of their hands.

As far as we know all the studios are making Xbox only games, with only Bethesda remaining unknown since they legally still can’t fully say.

If they end up still shipping some of the Bethesda big guns outside of Xbox ecosystem despite so badly wanting every soul to use Game Pass…then I’m just lost, lol.
