What other well known company is branding their product as another independently owned company?

Its different than having different brands represent tiers.

Yep, just thought this through, and have to agree.

Starfield is launching 7 years almost to the day after Fallout 4 release. Granted, BGS Maryland did some of the work on FO76, but most of the work there was said to have been done by a support studio (can’t remember whether Austin or Dallas). But even if we assume (wrongly, I think) that they worked full-time on FO76, that is still a full four years gap to Starfield.

I feel like they have done a fair bit more pre-production on this to date than they had on Starfield before Fallout 4’s release, but there are still some hard limits to this. Depending on how much they have done, end 2025 might be possible, but seems unlikely.

I would have my expectations set for 2026, and 2027 as a generation swansong wouldn’t surprise me either.

I always wondered why they didn’t rebrand the Xbox as the “MSX” in Japan. Sure it was a gaming micro PC or whatever but it was a fairly successful piece of hardware in Japan, hell Metal Gear started there! Now with the Xbox consoles resembling PC towers it would be even more apt.

Xbox shouldn’t do this at all. Imagine Microsoft to rebrand their gaming division to cater all the different countries. Xbox is a global brand and if ou want to raise awareness in specific countries, just invest in marketing.

I only said it’s possible… Didn’t said it is easy…

Thing like this will happen gradually… But once it is setup, gamers of that region will connect with brand more naturally as they would think it is somehow brand of there country

I am sort of examples but possibility is there

This could also help improve region specific language support.

Think about Korean… is pearl a great studio there? Maybe it could turn into a household thing.

Couple of things to take into consideration though, a new IP takes more time to come up with than working within an existing one. There were also extensive engine upgrades done to prepare for this gen that won’t need to be done again for TES.

Not rebranding gaming division… Just the name of the console… There budget friendly console no less.

Gamepass is same… Xbox seriesX is same. Even the rebranded console will have Xbox on it.

No change there

Having the X and S with different branding would be even more confusing.

Ya… Can’t help if it’s a grand ma buying the console

I think the topic is getting off now… Won’t reply any further on the same

Can we get back on topic? This thread is about Xbox Game Studios…not what branding the console should have in various regions around the world.

All good points.

But bear in mind that even taking all that into account, a 2025 launch for ES6 would only allow three years for development after Starfield’s launch.

That would be viable in the PS360 generation, but for games of this scale in the UHD age seems pretty tight.

I guess it all rest on how much, if anything, is already done on it.

One thing that may work in their favour is that now, as a part of MS, they are likely going to have greater resource to bring in support studios and QA contractors to help out.

For Sega Series, train has already left.

I wonder if we are going to get special edition bethesda consoles maybe even starting with Redfall.

Not sure about Redfall, but Starfield - I would bet that there would be a special edition one.

Yeah I would bet on that considering it is set to be Xbox’s big AAA game for 2022.

The teaser was in 2018 so we can assume there was work going on even before that. Some small level of staff are likely to have been working on the game since 2017, we don’t knew how small.

I can imagine that the goal is for ES6 to ramp into bfull production as soon as Starfield is released. 3-4 years fully staffed might be enough to finish up.

Yeah my bad lol I got them mixed up. Really hope they snag Adam Heart for the next version because he has a passion for fighting games and he did a lot for KI. KI kept me coming back to Xbox One like one of the posters said above.
