Everytime their head of sales for Asia talks he mentions the PC push there. Maybe they can at least get these games to pc gamepass.

The thing is that depending on how XCloud fares, even console sales won’t represent the state of Xbox in Japan.

If they can push for PC then Xbox is just a small step shead., I think that Japan support is going to be way bigger next-year, I truly believe that Forza and Halo are going to give a great push for Xbox.

Oh surely Xcloud should be popular there, but games need to stop skipping Xbox first.
Xcloud needs games to be on Gamepass, for games to be on Gamepass they need to be on Xbox, to be on Xbox devs need to know that the console has enough support to actually trust something is going to sell there in good enough volume.

It’ll happen for sure, we’re getting there.

I think Microsoft can pull this strategy for Xbox

Decentralise the Xbox with the help of local Game Studios/publishers

Like in Japan -Sega Series S In UK -Playground Series S And so on…

This way they can have localised marketing and allocate budget and hardware accordingly

Also, what region does the Bethesda associates the most? Is it European or American

Just think about Skyrim Series S… Oh hell ya

Only the Sega Series S makes sense, since that is a definite valued brand in Japan.

otherwise you don’t split brands like this --a strict no, no!

I think the days of different branding across the different markets are long past us and will never come back. The internet is global and it’d only create confusion.

Doesn’t have to be Playground exactly. Could be something entirely new. My focus is on localised marketing with a name synonyms to the region

They should consider something like that with a pack in and limited edition console, but not as a full rebrand in certain markets.

Do you know about oppo, vivo and Mi

They are damn popular in India

This does sound funny… But in this age I have find many Chinese company to be very profitable because of this very startegy in Indian smartphone market

Think Amazon and Disney Hotstar in India - same brand, but better local content. Once you saw IPL, only then you started noticing Disney.

This same trademark strategy applies for relatively unestablished markets.

But for established markets like Japan, for instance, the Sega brand name is a good starting strategy.

For the others, there has to be a better PR, marketing and distribution strategy.

Disney and Amazon are about services

I am only talking about hardware marketing. Specially Series ‘S’ only

Keep Gamepass the same around the globe

Oppo and Vivo are under the same parent company but Mi/Xiaomi are not part of BBK.

Anyways are they releasing the same smartphones and just rebrand them ?

It happens many time… They release same smartphone with different name in Africa countries as well

Edit: ya sure not Mi

But “BBK Electronics Corporation markets smartphones under the Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Realme and iQOO”

wow - that is some splintered branding.

I think idea is feasible and other well known companies are already doing it.

So idea isn’t bad… But it’s execution is very critical

For example, if they just want to target Poland… They can do it with CDPR (but I know CDPR is not a good choice, only used it for the example)
