Xbox Game Studios |OT7| Killer News Here!?

How you guys feel about Killer Instinct is how I feel about the 3+ RPGs currently in dev at Xbox lol.

Can’t say you want Xbox to diversify it’s gaming portfolio to bolster the value and sustainability of Game Pass if they only make quality games YOU like right?

Variety is a good thing. Everybody gets a plate.

Double Helox came in first, and Iron Galaxy after them. The code is still from Double Helix - a fighting variant of of Slayer Engine from their days being the Collective, I think.

But - KI is still legendary and needs to be revived. Sceptical of Iron Gallaxy with Adam Boyes as CEO. Hopefully there are more players here rather than just IG. The gameplay code is still around and can be used for retaining the same gameplay feel.

Why would he say this? Hellblade 2 will literally be a Sony-inspired game

Because he literally does not like xbox . Sony inspired xbox game or not . Tho lets not start this topic again .

They’re a work-for-hire studio, that’s how they ended up on KI.

But they are also making an original fighting game right now. Adam ‘Keits’ Heart has mentioned this plenty of times on Twitter.

That’s a bummer. But man, I wish Microsoft would throw the pocketbook at them to buy them and get them on two projects

  1. KI, of course. They could incorporate the characters they were gonna do in their original IP into it.

  2. A Power Stone 2-like full of Xbox mascots.

I think Keits is a genius of gameplay design, but IG were obviously iterating on the work Double Helix had already done with KI2013 so I don’t know if they are an obvious candidate to helm a new KI from scratch – especially as the game in my view deserves the full AAA treatment.

Buying Netherealm and poaching some of the key DH and IG staff that worked on KI2013 would be the ideal.

You get a studio well versed at delivering exceptionally polished AAA fighting games with full cinematic story modes, you bring in the guys responsible for 2013 to join a team within the studio to keep the link to the last game.

NR is a two-game studio, and if MS bought them they wouldn’t get the DC licence, so their two games could become MK and KI.

Sorry, realise I am slipping into acquisition thread territory but seemed relevant to the convo here.

Another approach, and a more on-topic one, would be to hire the same people, and many more with FG experience, to build a team within RARE to deliver. Their name is always going to be in the splash screens anyway.

I remember years ago with Xbox One during E3 when they very, very briefly teased KI with a second of the theme and I believe also a split second of the logo. Even as a non fighter, that was hype! Loved how they did that.

How awesome would that be once it’s time to fully reveal TES VI?

We’ll see in 2025 :joy:

At the earliest according to some guesses here by folks, but I hope they are all wrong. If Fable is 2024, let’s assume so for now, then 2025 could be TES VI and/or InXile’s Cobalt. This would be three years after Starfield, and I definitely can see expansions coming for that too, so 2026 or even 27 isn’t out of the question.

With Skyrim I think the bulk of the team was on the project until the last expansion, I remember the message by the team saying they were moving on to their next adventure which was Fallout 4.

You are in for a good time

Hoping for Sega, Dlala, moon, mdhr, level-5, turtle rock to join the X family.

KI was the best fighter of last gen imo. I say that as someone who wasn’t too fond of KI in the 90’s. Double Helix did an amazing job of bringing KI back, keeping what their core fans loved about the gameplay while vastly improving on it. I never in a million years would’ve thought I’d be mentioning KI in the same breath as Street Fighter and KOF.

Hoping this translates to certain Japanese games that skip Xbox, maybe not skipping it this time around.

I guess it’s not quite there yet, maybe when it reaches 300k…

Is it too late to buy SEGA and rebrand xbox as Dreamcast 2 in Japan ?
