Xbox Game Studios |OT7| Killer News Here!?

Microsoft has had a great 2021 with the second half being excellent. Overall since Xbox Series X/S launched -

  • Gears Tactics / 83
  • Gears 5: Hivebusters / 82
  • Flight Simulator / 92
  • Psychonauts 2 / 89
  • Deathloop / 88
  • Age of Empires IV / 83
  • Forza Horizon 5 / 92
  • Halo Infinite / 86
  • Average / 87

I said this a while back but this generation for Xbox is going to be for me what PlayStation 4 was for me last generation, meaning that after the previous generation being a disappointment, the current generation completely wins me over.

While half of the games I listed above are simply of no interest to me, overall, the quality far surpasses PlayStation 4 in the same time period and it’s not even close. Sony started to win me over in 2016 but it was mainly 2017 that did it for me but it took half the generation to do so where as when looking at Microsoft and the roadmap, they should accomplish the same for me in half the time it Sony to win me over.

As long as Redfall and Starfield hit for me personally, Microsoft would have accomplished in two years what it took Sony four years to accomplish in regards to winning me over and being confident moving forward which excluding Gears 4 & 5, after Xbox One, my confidence in Microsoft was pretty much non-existent but in just a year since the Series X/S launched, they have already had a massive turnaround to where it’s insane.

So with that all said, congratulations to Microsoft and everyone on all the studios that work at Microsoft/Bethesda because holy shit, we’re in for one hell of a fucking ride and as I said a year ago, I am the most hyped, positive and excited for Xbox that I have been in over a decade which was basically near the end of the Xbox 360 generation.

The best part is that what makes me most hyped future wise is that the games that aren’t for me personally are still highly rated and highly polished titles which makes me very happy because after the Xbox One generation, that’s all I really wanted to see was a massive improvement in quality and polish which thus far, they have done and with all their studios now, I am expecting every game to be pretty much at the same 80+ high quality and highly polished level.

Due to work, can’t wait for Wednesday night to finally start Halo Infinite and if at The Game Awards, I get a gameplay trailer or two and maybe one reveal, oh man!!!

:joy: :joy: :joy: :joy: :joy:

It was great for what it was, especially in their limited resource and what not. If they want to go all out, they will have to expand greatly on every scope. Perhaps Project Mara will be the Hellblade in terms of size and scope.

Coalition carried the launch.

This is from after Microsoft’s July 2020 Xbox Showcase -

“The episodic campaign will begin to be released in 2020, with it being split into operations and then episodes within those operations”

That was almost 17 months ago so im hoping that it’s one full game.

Agreed. Both were great and I really enjoyed Hivebusters.

If you asked me, Xbox’s pulse has been beating again since late 2019 with the launch of Gears 5.

It was a light year, but G5 was that shot in the arm of - “Oh shit, this is AAA as fuck and not a Forza game.”

The Outer Worlds launching on Game Pass around the same time, almost a year after the Obsidian acquisition, also helped shape that holiday season as being particularly strong for MS’ first party in hearts and minds of many.

Paul Tassi showed Halo a 75 and knocked the metascore down to 86. His tweets suggest he liked the multiplayer much more than single player and basically average what he’d score the two, which means the campaign to him is like a 50-60. Ouch. Wtf

I like debating and discussing stuff and I agree with y’all about the state of that game that shall never be named and the studio behind it, but what you are doing is litterally denialism of actual stuff that happened barely a year ago.

What y’all thinking, any Xbox projects coming to mind that would fit this description?

I think HB2 is going us some next-gen visceral combat that raised the bar on realistic animations.

I think MS will show off at least one or two new projects that are 2+ years off, so I think we may see Coalition’s new AAA IP make an appearance alongside inXile’s Cobalt.

I love this sort of stuff
