Xbox Games Showcase & Starfield Direct |OT| SPOILER FREE

I don’t think they will change how much they show or the target window, they simply won’t state publically “targetting the next 12 months”.

12 months thing is silly. But they absolutely shouldn’t be announcing stuff further than two years out. We all see the consequences of doing that with fable and everwild and many others. Don’t announce stuff so far out. Don’t limit yourself to 12 months either. But they won’t fix their release cadence going to either extreme.

MS should give reasons to people to buy consoles/register to Gamepass soon and not as a possible things in the future. Most Sony fans do buy the console near launch because they are confident the games are coming. MS has not this safety confidence due to the X1 history.

As a simple example, Sony has skipped twice E3, released remakes, remasters and sequels for 3 years. Still Sony fans think the next showcase will be golden. MS have the opposite mind because of insecurity and bad history. MS has a much bigger threshold to achieve because of fear and expectation, and lower marketshare.

18 to 24 months should be the way to go for any showcase, I hope it’ll be the case :innocent:

For me I would be happy with gameplay for anything over the next 12 months and then preview videos for the following 12 months. If there’s good looking gameplay available for something due in the second year then include that in the video but not if the studio has to waste any significant amount of time getting it looking like the final product.

No Gameplay under 12 months is suspicious. The best is in engine controlled sequences, Sony does it perfectly. Gameplay over 12 months is useless. If it is far not releasing soon, there is a reason. CGI over 12 months (like Redfall last year) is also useless and probably not even done by the studio itself.

Indiana Jones would definitely build great great hype.

What if we get the new Mass Effect revealed at this event?

Or a Ninja Gaiden

As long as they have plenty of content in the next 12-18 months, I dont have any problem at all with giving a glimpse of something 36 months out, just give some type of indication that its a glimpse of the future of Xbox and not a soonish expectation.

Indiana Jones already announced. I’m talking 1st party IP’s, Games. Not 3rd party BTW.

I just want to see Motorsports, Starfield and a game for fall launch

Rest… Surprise me

I think it’s pretty obvious they won’t be giving out any timeframes.

I’m hoping to see rpgs (Avowed or Fable to go along with Starfield and STALKER 2).

I’m hoping to see a big campaign based shooter (ie aomwthing from The Coalition, ID, The Initiative or Machine Games).

I’m hoping to see updates on previously announced games like Indy, Contraband.

I’m hoping to see at least 3 previously unannounced AAA games in total.

I’m hoping to see more partnerships to bring JRPGs to the platform.

I’m hoping to see less focus on existing games, save that for smaller updates throughout the year. It makes the show more exciting if its all new games, plus it allows you to save those updates to stay in the news cycle.

I’m hoping to see exciting new indie games (theyve been doing an amazing job with this).

Glad they’re ditching the 12 month thing. It was dumb then, it 's dumb now. Completely fine for developer directs, not for showcases.

Hoping for a great show.

My idea is keep the 1 year thing in there plans but just don’t mention it

All the dates which are shared are of games coming in next one year.

Games which are not, simply don’t mention there dates

Easy peasy

That’ll happen most likely imo, don’t say the thing but just do the thing and still show a few far out games for spicy hype moments. I think the best of both worlds is to do that, focus mostly on what we get to play in the next 12 months with a few far out games to give us some future excitement as well. I do think it might be best not to announce the far out things too far out like announce 2023 but they know it’s not ready till 2026-2027 that’s probably a bit much.

All of this is a balancing act, they could reveal things that are far out as long as they have things in the short and medium term, I don’t think they should do this now though because they’ve alredy got a ton of games announced that were announced like this so maybe after those games hit.

It’s just a guess but I wouldn’t be suprised after the difficulty hitting dates from the last show that they could just use 2024 for a few games

I do not care about dates. Gamers are immature babies that talk at length about non crush and COVID impact, until it delays their precious games and then they start to get pissed off.
